If you have watched Tokyo Gore Police and Machine Girl this is similar in its extreme. There's blood like those other two films, but this one is far more gross. As the title suggests, there are special effects that are pretty graphic. I don't recommend you eat before this film if you have a weak stomach. There are a few good fight scenes but they do not redeem the film enough. Of course, its not supposed to be real, but it borders on being disgusting. I give credit to the Japanese for being inventive enough to go to these kind of extremes, but this film is a bit too much to handle. I think teens, early 20's people who like zombie films that are out there may find this worth watching but it is not for mass appeal.
Plot summary
Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her bullied sister, young karate student Megumi accompanies four older friends on a trip into the woods: smart girl Aya, her druggie boyfriend Také, full-figured model Maki, and nerdy Naoi. Things start to go badly when Maki finds a parasitical worm inside a fish - and wolfs it down, in the hope that it will keep her skinny. Her stomach later feels horrible and she relieves herself in an outhouse. The parasitic worm she ate had apparently laid eggs in her stomach and came out of in her diarrhea attack. Soon after, they are attacked by a crowd of poo-covered undead, who emerge from the outhouse toilet Maki used. The group seeks refuge in the home of the strange Dr. Tanaka, who conducts experiments on the zombies and the parasites, and who has another fate in mind for the five strangers. Can Megumi's karate help them escape, or will she have to rely on the liberating power of flatulence to defeat her demented captor?

Silly, Crazy, Gross
Toilet humor
You should expect it, right? A movie with a title like that (internationally: Zombie *ss) should be below the belt ... backside-wise. But shouldn't it still be sort of funny? Of course if you set your bar low, you might be able to laugh at quite a few of the jokes I reckon, but judging from the overall rating, I guess not many could oversee the flaws this had/has.
It's a shame, because movies with a punch line can be a lot of fun. Snakes on a plane, Alien vs. Ninjas and other movies have proved that to a better effect. Talking about effects, the ones shown here are decent enough for the small budget this movie has. Performances (if you can call them that) are borderline silly and closer to annoying, but might feel entertaining for some.
This Movie Rocks!

If you liked the outhouse scenes in "Dead Snow", you will love "Zombie Ass" -- because there is fecal matter everywhere, flatulence used as jet propulsion, gratuitous butt crack... this is the sort of silly awesomeness that only Japan can bring.
We get this gem from director Noboru Iguchi, best known for "The Machine Girl". If you liked "Machine Girl", you will probably like this one, too. I mean, geez, it is zombies and poop... and then it gets weird.
