Monkey is distributing bananas to the animals of the jungle. He is shocked to start speaking. Others start talking like Trunk the elephant. The two new friends find Fneep, a young alien from the conquest-obsessed Scaldronians.
It's a South African animated movie. I don't know anything about this franchise. It's trying to be the Ice Age of Home. It starts with good ET vibe but then the alien has schizophrenia of the conquering kind. The whole thing devolves into a mess. The alien threw me off. I just stop caring about him going home or going anywhere in general. It's too bad. The alien design looks cute. There is a possible way to make this fun kiddie movie. This is not that.

Plot summary
Jungle Beat: The Movie is a charming, family friendly adventure of epic proportions. One morning, the animals of the jungle wake up to discover that they can speak. They're even more amazed when they learn the reason why: There's an alien in the jungle. Little FNEEP has come to conquer the planet and has brought some crazy tech with him, including a translation device that lets them talk for the first time. Unfortunately for the intergalactic Scaldronian empire, but fortunately for the jungle, Fneep is a terrible conqueror: He's homesick, he's crashed his ship, and he's no match for the antics of MUNKI, TRUNK and the gang. Our heroes won't let a little alien conquest get in the way of a good time or a new friend. As the animals help him on his journey home, he learns that friendship could be the greatest force in the universe. But is it a match for a spaceship full of aliens?

Boring...
Cute, but kind of cute, the story is cute, but it didn't captivate me, neither the pink elephants, nor the excluded alien, nor the banana-dispensing monkey, without cute...
Light-hearted, entertaining.
I think I'd rate this a 7 but I don't think the 5.5 rating is fair so 8 it is. I liked this movie, so did my daughter. It's sweet and amusing. I did however think some parts would've benefited from sharper editing (or writing) as they were a little too long.
