The first of the Mad,Mad, Mad World series!

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World (1987) was the first of the Piu family series. Bill Tung stars as the patriarch of the family, his wife is played by Lydia Sum. The movie follows the everyday lives of the Piu family. Lydia can't get no love from her goofy husband, the oldest daughter hangs out with a bad crowd, the youngest daughter's a junior genius and the middle sibling feels it from both ends. Can Bill and Lydia ever rekindle their sex life? What kind of trouble will Loletta get into next? Check out It's A MAd, Mad, Mad World! David Chang makes a guest appearance as Bill's shady brother, Eric Tsang co-stars as Bill's oldest daughter's annoying boy friend.

A very fun film that spans over a series. The next episodes follow their exploits in Canada and Lydia's obsession with playing Mark Six lottery game. Her problems with it during this film does not go away. Recommended for fans of Hong Kong comedies.

Highly recommended.

A laugh-out-loud comical Hong Kong classic!

In this Hong Kong classic comedy, TV news reporter Bill (Bill Tung) tries to make ends meet to support himself, his wife (Lydia Sum) and three daughters (Elsie Chan, Loletta Lee and Pauline Kwan) in urban Hong Kong. In the mist of their misadventures, Bill and his family's luck change when Bill's wife suddenly wins the lottery.

The acting was excellent in the movie, from the fast-talking and wise-cracking Bill Tung to the acid wit and no-nonsense Lydia Shum. All the characters, especially Bill and Lydia, delivered a unique brand of laugh-out-loud humor and deadpan comedy. It's entertaining seeing each of the family members go through misadventures in their lives while, despite hard times, staying as a close-knit family. Even with the lottery winning, the characters learns that consequences follow and there is nothing more priceless than family.

The plot is solid and fast-paced and you'll be thoroughly entertaining by this family comedy from start to finish!

A Lot Of Fun

Not the Hollywood film, this is about a husband, wife and their three daughters who live in a housing estate in Hong Kong. It turns out, they win the lottery and their youngest daughter is kidnapped. They also find out the bank defaulted on them, so they really have no money. And, its a comedy? Absolutely. Full of snappy one liners, even from the youngest child Jody, its funny and over the top. This film also features Loletta Lee as the middle daughter, a fairly early role for her in what has been a fairly good career. Its worth it, as it will put a smile on your face. It even parlayed itself into two sequels, which is terrific, because this family is fun to watch. I recommend it to everyone. Its slapstick comedy, and its really a good time had by all.
