A Ridiculous yet Funny Movie

The Brothers Solomon is one of those movies that is incredibly dumb and ridiculous, yet it turns out to be funny. This movie had it's moments when it was pretty funny and made itself a decent looking comedy, but at other points you were thinking 'why the hell would somebody write that.' The whole point is that John and Dean Solomon want to grant their dad's wish by having a grandchild for him. Will Arnett did a really funny job as always and I continue to like what he does, but this wasn't his best work by far. I think this movie is like a forgotten movie. I mean people won't be talking about The Brothers Solomon for the next twenty. I wouldn't go out on a limb to watch it, but if it was on and nothing else was, then I wouldn't change the channel.

This is a hilarious blast...

I had the opportunity to watch "The Brothers Solomon" for the second time here in 2021. Sure, I watched it back around 2007 or 2008, when it was relatively new, but I have to admit that I couldn't remember the movie. So as I had the opportunity to watch it again, of course I did so.

And I must say that "The Brothers Solomon" is definitely one of those comedy movies that just work out on just about every level. I had completely forgotten the storyline told in the movie, and I had forgotten just how amazingly funny both Will Arnett and Will Forte are.

The storyline told in "The Brothers Solomon", as written by Will Forte, is actually one that is every bit as funny as it is one that is entertaining. So Will Forte definitely churned out something good here with the script, and gave director Bob Odenkirk some solid material to work with.

There is just so many funny moments and scenes to be enjoyed throughout the course of this 2007 comedy, so I was laughing most of the time. That was something I enjoyed about the movie, because this is how comedy is done right.

Aside from the great comedy team of Will Arnett and Will Forte, then "The Brothers Solomon" also had the likes of Kristen Wiig, Chi McBride, Lee Majors, Bill Hader, Sam Lloyd and Bob Odenkirk on the cast list. So you really are in for a good treat with a stellar comedy cast.

Having returned to watch "The Brothers Solomon" was definitely a good move on my part, because this movie is just hilarious. And it is a great addition to the comedy genre.

I am rating "The Brothers Solomon" a well-deserved seven out of ten stars.

Lee Majors as the dad!

Between being directed by Bob Odenkirk and written by Will Forte, who also stars, I had high hopes for this goofy comedy and they were definitely lived up to.

John (Will Arnett) and Dean Solomon (Forte) grew up in isolation as they were raised by their single father Ed (Lee Majors) at an Arctic research station. Now that they're in the normal world, they have no idea how to interact with other people. Now that Ed is in a coma, the brothers decide that they can wake him by having a child, which proves to be nearly impossible.

I mean, it's mostly a one-joke premise - the woman they pick to adopt a child from (Kristen Wiig) is having a baby with a black man (Chi McBride) - but I was in the right mood for a ridiculous comedy, much less one that had Majors in it.
