If you can continue watching this after seeing the bigfoot walking around in a ridiculous furry suit, you are an idiot. if you continue to watch after seeing it making chimp noises, then you are an even bigger idiot. i stopped right there, you have got to be kidding me. i just can't imagine anyone even intentionally putting in a more pathetic and laughable effort. it is so lame it makes you feel stupid to continue watching after the first 5 minutes and 30 seconds. there is no way in hell you won't feel insulted and hopefully, if you have a functional brain....there is no way.....NOOOO WAYYYY in hell you will degrade yourself by watching it past 5 minutes.
Plot summary
Deep in the Louisiana swamp lives a legend. In the fall of 2013, the legend comes to life. Many have seen, some have heard, and none have forgotten: the giant hairy creature with glowing red eyes that locals refer to as the Beast of Bayou Dorcheat. When the long dormant Bigfoot monster seemingly begins a brutal reign of terror, a glamorous talk show host, Dr. Anna Rock, must leave her highly coveted position to search for her younger sister Megan, a Bigfoot researcher, in the swampy wilderness of northern Louisiana. She reluctantly enlists the aid of her former boyfriend and his father, two of the world's most respected Bigfoot research scientists, a Native American shaman, and Cajun swamp guide Gator Boudreaux. Separated from the others during the exhaustive search for Megan, Anna ends up alone in the swamp, with only the fading light of her cell phone to guide the way. Ultimately, she must confront her own worst nightmare to find her sister and provide the key to ending the massive carnage, and face down the most dangerous creature known to man.

you have got to be kidding ( subtract 50 from the 1 star rating )
Laughable low-budget Bigfoot movie...
Well, the movie's cover was indeed the first hint that this was not going to be a great cinematic experience, and then there was the title of course. Yeah, but still, I believe in giving a movie a fair chance, because sometimes there's gold to be found amongst the rabble.
However, "Skookum: The Hunt for Bigfoot" wasn't one such occurrence.
But I suppose if you find a guy wearing a dubious rubber mask and a stuffy furry suit to be entertaining, then I am sure that you will find some sort of enjoyment in "Skookum: The Hunt for Bigfoot". I, however, just doesn't find such to be proper entertainment, so I was not enjoying this movie in any way.
The storyline written by Debi King McMartin, Lyn Morgan and Jack M.F. Skyyler was dubious at best. And it simply amazes me that not one, but three, count them, three writers could collectively manage to come up with a heap of dung such as "Skookum: The Hunt for Bigfoot".
And the acting in the movie, well it wasn't all that bad actually, but the actors and actresses just had very little to work with in terms of a proper script or likeable characters.
Should you happen to enjoy movies that deal with the mythical creature Bigfoot, then there are some way more entertaining and enjoyable movies on that particular topic. "Skookum: The Hunt for Bigfoot" is simply not worth the time, money or effort.
My rating of this 2016 movie settles on a mere two out of ten stars. This was a swing and a miss from directors Jack Jack Skyyler, Rob Gaudet and Alex Zinzopoulos.
Skookum - A new movie with a 1970's retro look and feel to it.
Actually, received a First Assembly DVD Copy from Deborah McMartin(the writer, producer and casting director) back in the summer of 2016. Got to watch the DVD with my cousin and one of his friends. We all enjoyed the movie very much as it had a slight 1970's feel to it, which means that just about anyone will like this movie. The narration reminded me of The Legend of Boggy Creek. The scenery around Oil City, the swamp and the two men in the boat brought back vivid memories of The Creature from Black Lake. The two men in the boat are a riot! The scene where the two young girls were on the sofa when they "heard something" and the way that the furniture and room was arranged got me to thinking about The Mysterious Monsters and the scene where the young woman was on the sofa and a hairy arm breaks thru the window and grabs at her, who then gets up and gets her husband who goes to the front door with 30/30 Winchester rifle in hand and opens the door revealing the creature standing right there(quite shocking). Enjoyed the part when the scenery would turn red when looking at it thru the creatures eyes. I know this was used in several Bigfoot,Sasquatch movies to good effect. The one most vivid to me was in Snowbeast(1977) when everything turned red as someone was getting killed. Overall, a very well written movie about a villainous creature and I am not going to spoil the ending, but one clue is that to think of The Return to Boggy Creek. Lastly, this movie is an effort to be proud of. They had good actors, excellent cinematography and a music score that fit in real well with the movie. I am going to see it when it hits the cinemas and will buy a final copy of the movie on DVD to help support them make more movies like this one. I did mention to Debbie that if they needed an idea or theme for another Bigfoot movie to take the crew to Croton on Hudson,NY and Fordham University and try something along the lines of Shriek of the Mutilated from 1974. In closing, a very wonderful and talented crew and company that earned the rights to make another movie!
