Great documentary about a star

I love Katy Perry and it's really cool to have made a film telling of his journey to stardom! The documentary tells how his life was complicated in relation to their parents, devoted only to Christianity and, therefore, were too conservative to release her daughter to her dreams, but she did not give up, went to California, he struggled to be recognized by a record label to get his first hit - I Kissed a Girl - was funny to say that she was surprised to hear your own music on the radio. After that his career took off. His marriage was a major obstacle, having broken in their own world tour, but she overcame. The most amazing stars of movies is to realize that they have the same needs that we humans "common", they did not cease to be individuals with their own needs. I loved it!

Something to brighten up a dull day.

I think that Katy Perry is about "girl empowerment"-that is to say I think she wants girls to be proud of themselves-and teenage girls as well-so instead of doing what everybody else does- she is an original who is not like the other female singers out there whose are mostly about 'being a Femme Fatale.' Britney Spears even named one of her albums 'Femme Fatale.' Most young women would rather be themselves and have fun than pretend to be some kid of "ultimate female" or 'Femme Fatale.' (some people define a Femme Fatale as a woman who by virtue of her good looks lures men into dangerous situations-but I think it means a woman who is all about being the focus of every mans attention) I think KP appeals to the group of young women who don't take themselves too seriously which I think is a good thing. I am a fan of many different types of music and I like to hear about how someone decided to do what they do in music. This film had plenty of material that gives a look into the life of the performer and why she does what she does. I think attempting a tour that lasted forever probably contributed to her marital problems- which were sad to see in the film. Her positive attitude is contagious and her voice is often surprisingly good in terms of what she is capable of doing sonically when she really gets going. There isn't much talent out there in the music biz today so I think its good to see someone who has got singing talent and I like her crazy costumes-not 'totally nuts' like Lady Gaga-just colorful and playful-which makes her shows fun & sexy.

Part of Perry.

Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012): Dir: Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz / Featuring: Katy Perry, Angela Perry, Shannon Woodward, Russell Brand, Glen Ballard: A colourful concert experience that brings insight into what transpired to bring pop star Katy Perry to the top of the charts with hits like "Firework" and "Teenage Dream." It showcases her religious upbringing as well as her failed attempts on the Christian charts. It also showcases the darker side including her failed marriage to Russell Brand, which led to bouts of depression. She has a real flare for life and a sense of humour to match. She introduces those whom assist on her tours but none are as detailed as the involvement of her sister Angela who apparently organizes the fan meets as well as double as other characters on the stage during a performance. Perry's wardrobe presents the wonderland portrayal she attempts to give off but it is never more fun than when she conceals herself briefly only to emerge seconds later in a new outfit. One such sequence involving a glitter gun gave the most magical visual in the film. Directors Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz do a splendid balancing act with stage performance and personal and backstage antics that give the film more appeal. We are also linked in with many of her popular songs during footage where she takes the stage under different surroundings and antics. Fans of Perry will enjoy this film most but its ability to divide concert and back stage elements allow this to elevate beyond most concert films. This is a colourful and fun concert experience that fans will want to be part of. Score: 9 / 10
