Several memorable double meanings in "Mom" are teetering on the edge of "black comedy", but there is no further development of the comedy angle. Therefore, I must conclude that this was never intended to be a dark comedy. The horror elements are crude, however the story is memorable for such a low budget film. Brion James has limited screen time, but sets things in motion with a bite to Mom's shoulder. Along the lines of Steve Buscemi in "Ed and His Dead Mother", Mark Thomas Miller is torn between his love for his Mom, and the realization that she is addicted to human flesh. Special mention must be made of Stella Stevens performance as a bar trollop, as it is excellent. = MERK

Son, could you go get your Mother something to eat?
Pointless and rather uneventful...
Right, well I didn't really expect this 1991 horror movie to be a grand movie experience in any way. But still, it is a horror movie and a werewolf movie, and since I had the time and the chance, of course I sat down to watch it.
Well at least I managed to get through 1 hour of it, and then I just gave up, because the movie was severely boring and rather uneventful. Truth be told, the script and storyline here from writers Patrick Rand, Kevin Watson and Patrick Rand wasn't really particularly thrilling or interesting.
The movie did, however, have Brion James in it - for a short while. And he did manage to at least spice up the movie just a little bit. But ultimately, not even his appearance in the movie could do much to salvage the wreck that the movie actually turned out to be.
The special effects in "Mom" were not overly great, especially for a movie such as this. And even back in 1991, there were movies that fared a lot better with their special effects. So, don't get your hopes up here.
All in all, "Mom" was a less than mediocre, and a somewhat boring and pointless movie. I am rating it three out of ten stars.
Mom is one of the more enjoyable of unique horror films I've had the occasion to watch
This is one of the most unique among horror movies I've watched for the past several weeks. A man accepts becoming a border at a sweet old lady's home but he's not quite the normal border she assumes he is. Next thing you know, she has some unusual appetites...I'll stop there and just say this was thrilling, touching, and, when Stella Stevens shows up as a hooker named Beverly Hills, occasionally funny as Hell! All I'll say now is I highly recommend Mom!
