Did Max Bielestock secretly produce this?

There is absolutely no rhyme or reason for this movie to be, and the musical version of "Hamlet" ("Funny Boy") which Pam not to be seems more likely an option to be produced realistically than this fiasco. This is probably a movie musical perfect for people who don't like movie musicals because it is so bad that it justifies their hatred of movie musicals. I've seen many flop musicals on Broadway and as movies, and I'll take a revisit to "Lost Horizon" in the cinema and "Dance of the Vampires" on Broadway than justify a revisit to this which seems to hate Broadway musical fans of all persuasions and is enjoying its ridicule of them.

Joe Piscopo (a name I hadn't heard in decades) and veteran character actor Paul Sorvino are the only two familiar names in it, trying to force laughs where there aren't any, presenting a musical comedy within a movie that is the worst thing any stage could ever hope to produce without the audience causing a riot. Piscopo is a down-on-his-luck choreographer, so just for that he sells his Tony Award in the opening scene, and then all of a sudden getting a chance to do a new musical with the aid of mobster Sorvino. This reminds me of the scene in "Ed Wood" where a Paramount producer looks at "Glen or Glenda" and initially thinks it was some sort of practical joke. I have rated plenty of movies as bombs, but this one turns out to be probably the worst film I've seen since the start of the millennium.

wacky film from the 1960s

American family goes for a romp in pareee ! Grif (Jame Garner) gets a work assignment in europe, so he thinks it'll be a lark to bring the family... Jenny (Debbie Reynolds) and son Dave. Filmed during the flower power revolution. So there are groovy neon opening credits. And even a protest .... against gym class. And wearing a peace sign around his neck, which dad doesn't approve of either. It's a caper, similar to a chevy chase Vacation movie. Thank goodness paul lynde is in here for some comedy... he's the purser on the ship they take overseas. (Why are they not flying ??) keep an eye out for Terry Thomas (from Mad Mad World...) it's pretty good..low key fun. Lots of silliness... the usual gags where the son keeps dropping stuff, and when the wife gets bamboozled trying to rent a house, it all turns out okay. Except that she will have to spend time alone with a strange guy, which could be awkward if hubby finds out. Directed by Jerry Paris , who was the next door neighbor on the dick van dyke show. He went on to direct TONS of television shows. Did you notice that Jerry's "wife" millie, also from D. V. D. Show is also in here? And an eight year old Erin Moran (Joanie, on happy days!) Story from the book Girl in the Turquoise Bikini by Muriel Resnik.
