Instantly forgettable

The sixth of the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise and one of the silliest yet. Once again, Freddy is reborn to go after a new group of teenagers, and yet the whole thing plays out as a black comedy rather than a proper horror film. Krueger is a weak imitation of his once frightening self, with the scriptwriter once again resorting to weak wisecracks to bring him to life.

The plot involves Freddy's child but it ends up being all over the place and completely immature. Homages are made to the likes of THE WIZARD OF OZ for no apparent reason other than to spoof and you have to wonder who greenlit this production in the first place. Yes, it's watchable and has a fairly decent pacing, but it consistently disappoints the viewer's already low expectations. The much-lauded 3D sequence is pointless and ruined by cheesy graphics.

The kill scenes are particularly ridiculous, with the video game death having to be the nadir of the series so far. There's absolutely zero character development, and Yaphet Kotto is the only familiar face in the cast, albeit in a wasted role. You feel sorry for Robert Englund but I guess it all helped to pay the bills. Otherwise this is the kind of instantly forgettable fluff that clogged up cinemas during the 1990s.

Tom and Roseanne Arnold cameo...'nuff said

This is terribly unfunny and horribly unscary. It's the sixth installment of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Freddy actually has a kid and Springwood is an apocalyptic nightmare where no kids live. Maggie Burroughs (Lisa Zane) is a psychiatrist who takes his charges to the source Springwood.

There is no longer anything scary in this franchise. All the energy is gone. They do try to go camp with some attempted comedic bits. However any remaining goodwill is striped away by the Tom and Roseanne Arnold cameo as crazy townfolks. It wasn't funny to begin with but the annoying Arnolds really leaves a stink behind.

The movie feels like split in two. The first is pure camp stupidity. Aside from Tom and Roseanne Arnold, everything is stupid and unwatchable. Once they leave Springwood, it gets a little bit better as a darker movie. It reveals Freddy's life. It's still bad, just not horribly bad. It also makes Freddy small, and worst of all... human.

There is a 3D section near the end. I have not seen it in its 3D glory so I won't make any comment on it. Needless to say, this is the type of 3D that comes at you out of the screen.

not as unbearable as 2 but it's almost as bad.

ANOES 2 was a cringefest which broke the rules but this movie is almost as bad for completely different reasons. The intro has freddy krugers old quote, why does it include his own quote? Freddy's quote isn't anything inspirational. Freddy has fully evolved into the clown he has been transferring into since the 4th movie, it's so bad it's good. The characters are forgettable as always and one of them is as whiney as Jesse from ANOES 2 sadly but he gets killed. This movie also adds SO MANY new rules and lore, freddy's daughter, the weird demon thingys choosing freddy, freddy can erase people from existence? This makes no sense, freddy can even spring people back into the real world and make them teleport. The kills in this movie are simply lame, even freddy's death is lame. Freddy even forgets some of his own deaths from the previous movies. We all know that Freddy has been getting revenge on elm street/springwood children due to them killing him, right? Why is he killing EVERYONE in springwood? this movie also makes it so he does it because they took his made up daughter which makes even less sense. Even the scenes where the van is going around places are obviously just the same scene played over. At least there is a nice Johnny Depp cameo and freddy is still entertaining, even if he is saying cheesy dialogue.
