Story about three eclipse (maybe even Indigo, ha) children beginning their love for murder. Oh, and the people who are "hot" on their trail.

Bloody Birthday, a pretty mediocre title for the film, was a nice lil surprise. I was in no way expecting a film that dealt with blood-thirsty psychopath kids. And I may say it's also one of the best flicks I've seen with kids as the villains. By the end of the movie I seriously wanted these kids to die in horrible fashion.

It's a really solid 80s horror flick, but how these kids are getting away with all this mayhem and murder is just something that you can't not think about. Even the slightest bit of investigation would easily uncover these lil sh!ts as the murderers. But there seems to be only a couple police in town, well by the end, only one, and he seemed like a dimwit, so I suppose they could have gotten away with it. Haha, yeah, and I'm a Chinese jet-pilot.

Nevertheless, this movie delivered some evilass kids who were more than entertaining, a lot of premarital sex and a decent amount of boobage. No kiddin! If you're put off by the less than stellar title, dash it from your mind and give this flick a shot. It's a very recommendable and underrated 80s horror flick.

A few familiar adult actors can't hold a birthday candle to the three no necked monsters played here by Billy Jacoby, Andy Freeman, and Elizabeth Hoy, all delivered during a total eclipse of the sun and ten years later causing a reign of terror as they proceed to try and kill off their entire families and community for no other reason than they can. Hoy's father, Sheriff Bert Kramer is bludgeoned to death leaving mom Melinda Cordell bereft, the brother of another nearly gets all choked up locked in a junk yard freezer, various teens are killed as they prepare for the dirty deed, and strict teacher Susan Strasberg gets gunned down. These and a few more accidents occur before birthday party of the three angelic looking monsters. Hoy's sexy sister Julie Brown finds that a peak into a closet hole is worth an arrow in the skull, and naive mom Cordell is none the wiser. A far cry from her wonderfully campy spy Natalie Dearborn on "General Hospital" just a few years later, continuously grieving here as her family is reduced.

While enjoyable, the film really has no point and no motivation, and cameos by Strasberg and Oscar winner Jose Ferrer going to have no purpose. The three kids are fun to watch in a rather sick way, but this is too over the top and ridiculous at times. It's nicely filmed in a beautiful suburban area the Queens neighborhood doesn't seem like some place where horrific events like this would take place. The Oscar-winning Ferrer has very little to do, making this seem like a desperation job.

The pacing often slows when there's no carnage occurring, and it's easy to feel guilty about enjoying watching people being brutally slain by a brunch of pre-teen brats. One major error has one of the kids eating the rat poison cake and clutching his stomach, and there's no repercussions from that as Brown's character is accused of making things up to get her sister into trouble while the other kid never is seen recovering from his ailment. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth, both for the subject matter and for the gills of finding a little bit of fun even though I couldn't wait to see the three brats get their comeuppance.

It does stand for Blood and Breasts though. So you will get a lot of those things here (more of the latter I'd say, having not measured the amount exactly, but it certainly feels that way) - so quite the exploitation film we get served here.

With evil kids - I almost wrote Bad kids as summary line and then I came up with the B&B. If that offends you, do not even think about watching the movie. Cliches and quality in quantity here. Characters not being able to recognize the evil (genius?) of the kids that do a lot of bad stuff. And spying/being creepy on women undressing is not even close to the baddest thing they'll be doing ... just be aware of what you are about to watch ... I won't say to enjoy it ... I'll leave it up to you what you will call the experience of watching this madness ... that knows what it is and is living of its slasher merits and origins ...
