Once again proving he is the most daring cartoon maker going today, Maxwell Atoms' feature-length movie "Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure" takes the established continuity of the series and sends it spinning on its own ear, surprising and reconciling opposites like nobody's business.
Grim's trial can be readily traced back to Beetlejuice's misdemeanors, but where Beetlejuice was an individual malcontent, Grim is an established entity. Mandy, being Mandy, plays it straight right up until her nightmare scenarios and her eyes misting with tears fearing Billy has become the Kracken's lunch, showing not only Atoms' willing to risk flexing the emotions of a character whose emotions are purely set in stone, but perhaps showing that maybe--just maybe--Mandy really does like Billy, warts and all. Mandy is purely Cartoon Network's greatest cartoon star.
Irwin kissing Mandy to revive her is what fans have been waiting for (even if Mandy was asleep),and that Billy lays out what had been accomplished shows a hint of wisdom underneath that imbecile mind. Dementia, heart and a grand sense of macabre fun is what makes the movie go from the get-go.

So much crazy fun
As someone who grew up with the show I can honestly say that this's a good movie. The animation's great, the story's interesting, the jokes are funny and the characters are enjoyable to watch. The story's about Grim having to recover Horror's Hand from his rival the Boogey man. In doing so he reluctantly takes Billy, Mandy and Erwin with him to the underworld who also want the hand for their own reasons. Needless to say they have to deal with several strange characters and scenarios such as a boat race as part of their quest, battling pirates, and if that's not enough they have to deal with their robot selves and Billy's future self.
Much like the show, the humor's dark and surreal. There's a scene where Grim explodes after Boogey gets Horror's Ham from him which leads to a brief emotional moment from the main characters only for Grim to reveal that he fakes his death as part of his plan to retake the Hand from Boogey. This leads to him realizing his worst fear's coming true: He's not scary at all. If that's not enough he proceeds to get hurt badly afterwards in a series of hilarious ways. The characters are enjoyable to watch. Their personalities bounce off eachother well. The story's character-driven and as is it's very well done. It's funny to see Mandy get annoyed at Billy's idiocy and Erwin being a hopeless romantic.
The animation's awesome. It's not spectacular but it's cool. I don't have much to say other than if you like the show then you'll definitely like this movie. With that being said I highly recommend you check it out
