Pigs are flying....Uwe Boll has made a good film! --^--6.8/10--^--

Well everyone, it seems as though we should all remove a dagger from the heart of Uwe for now at least. Assault on Wall Street comes forth with none of the all too familiar flaws that most movie fans are accustomed to with his work. Not only does this come across with good cinematography, superb editing & a very effective score, but it delivers many good acting performances by a cast made up mostly by actors who are normally not so effective.

Dominic Purcell(Prison Break) plays Jim, an armored car guard and loving husband to his wife Rosie, who happens to become seriously ill. This event starts a chain reaction of bad events in Jim's life, first his health insurance gets capped, days later he finds out his lifetime investments are now gone due to crooked business practices. Now, unable to pay for the proper medical treatment for Rosie he embarks on a desperate mission to find a solution, only to be left alone with nothing but revenge on his mind.

This is such a common story here in the US which makes the film that much more real to the audience. You'd be hard pressed to find a person that hasn't either had a family member who has lost their retirement or known someone who hasn't gotten screwed in some way by an unscrupulous investment company between 9/11 to date. This factor made the plot hit home in a very believable manner. Match that with good pacing and you have yourself a pretty entertaining film to watch. --^--6.8/10--^--

Boll's best

ASSAULT ON WALL STREET is undoubtedly the best Uwe Boll film I've seen to date; he seems to have an affinity for FALLING DOWN-style stories of ordinary guys going postal, which anyone who's seen his RAMPAGE trilogy will know. This film is similar to the RAMPAGE films but even better, with Dominic Purcell both likeable and believable as the ordinary guy whose life is ruined thanks to some bad investments. Boll has clearly done his research here so the resultant film is surprisingly well made and believable; I particularly liked that the action is built up slowly, only really hitting home at the climax. The first hour is all build-up and character work which keeps you watching and interested just as much as in the inevitable outcome. As usual, Boll manages to cast some great actors of yesteryear; watch out for Edward Furlong, Keith David and John Heard.

THIS IS NOT A GAME, THIS IS MY LIFE SAVINGS

Jim (Dominic Purcell) is a security guard during the market crash. While he is losing his shirt on bad investments his wife (Erin Karpluk) has major medical complications which further exacerbates their situation, especially now that they have reached their "coverage cap limit." From the title and DVD cover we know where this is going to go. 10 minutes into the film we know who will die and even know what will trigger Jim to go into the berserker mode.

Jim becomes the envy of every 99%er vigilante, yet a guy we immediately condemn for not having enough self restraint. The problem I had with the film was the sniper mode in which he killed people, with all but one person knowing why they are getting killed. There are no sit the guy in a chair and slowly torture them scenes. It takes an hour before the first person dies, and he is hit by a fast moving taxi.

This makes for a fair action film rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity. Fairly tame for Uwe Boll production.
