7 Witches

The bad reviews this film has received are well warranted, not because the acting is rubbish - it isn't that bad. Not because the script is rubbish - that isn't so bad either. Simply because it is unintelligible. Okay, we understand the victims have been lured to this remote spot by a family of witches; one of them is a killer, and that initially only one of them is a killer. And cannibalism appears to come into the equation, but if you don't understand what is going on...Okay, if there is a psychopath on the loose and he is killing people at random, there is nothing more to understand, but when there is an apparent rational motive albeit a supernatural one...

Obviously made on a very low budget, it grossed less than most A List actors earn in a day. Hopefully the younger members of the cast will go on to bigger and greater things, a very easy task.

What lies above, lies below

The film opens in a community outside of Seattle circa 1919 being wiped out by masked men. From the title we can only guess about the community. Years later Rose (Danika Golombek) is getting married to Agatha (Megan Hensley) on the same land. Katy (Persephone Apostolou) is her sister and clearly the protagonist of the feature. She arrives with her boyfriend, ex-boyfriend, we are not engaged friend Cody (Mike Jones). It's complicated but later is simplified. Agatha's family shows up dressed up in black and white Puritan type outfits and what's to figure out.

The characters were developed. The dialogue had humorous elements. The sound track was hit and miss. The plot was expected, but a scene near the end had me scratching my head. The significance of the number 7 was never explained, I guess there were 7, but so what. The working title "Vows" doesn't really work either. "Seattle Slew" would work had it not been for the darn horse.

Guide: F-word. Body double sex, Very brief nudity?

Wow, I'm bored....

Hubby and I (both horror fans) are watching 7 Witches now. About the only highlights - on a comical level - are the multiple "scary food scenes." As hubby cackled before escaping to the kitchen to make dinner: you can't spell Cinnabon without Sin! (But man - even one Cinnabon would be a LOT better than this film!) :P
