This Hallmark movie is more involving than usual.
Meghan Markle acts well and you can actually sympathise with her even though she breaks up the wedding of her best friend and former boyfriend. The drama at the end doesn't feel contrived as it is in the usual Hallmark romance.
It's fun to see Meghan act with the hindsight that she is now a member of the Royal Family.
Plot summary
Young journalist Amy Peterson (Markle) is not as happy with her big city life as she'd hoped, and it's starting to show in her work. She's also not thrilled with her current boyfriend, Phil (Munro),a GQ-handsome businessman who doesn't quite click with her. When circulation at the Chicago Post starts to wane, Amy's editor sends her back to her hometown to write an article about growing up in her parents' (MacKechnie and Samuda) fireworks business. With the Fourth of July at hand, this human-interest story will be just what the Chicago Post needs. Amy arrives home to write her article, but is quickly derailed by her best friend, Sammie (Pesic),who enlists Amy to be the official planner of her upcoming Fourth of July wedding to - of all people - Amy's ex-boyfriend, Hank (Jacot). As Amy struggles to cater to Sammie's wedding demands and work on her newspaper assignment, her feelings for Hank start to resurface. Is Hank feeling the same way? Will their old flame rekindle as the time approaches for sparks to fly?

Better story than usual
A really nice "laid back" romantic film
So as the royal wedding is going to happen next month, I've decided to give a go at watching Meghan Markles films that I haven't yet seen before. I wouldn't nessicarily call this a worst Hallmark film she has ever done, I know it was quite predictable but it did the job to keeping me entertained! She really knows how to act as such a highly motivated girl who cares about her parents firework company and her friends, including the one she truly loved! The other actors as well as Christopher Jacot were great to at their roles too!
I give this 8/10!
Worth watching
I love Hallmark movies, and this one is good! I'm not a huge fan of the actors, but the movie is still very good, and yes I recommend it. James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 2/2/2021
