WHEELMAN feels very much like somebody saw LOCKE and decided to make their own version of that film, albeit in a thriller context with more car chases and the like. This is a small-scale story starring the consistently interesting Frank Grillo as a driver mixed up with various shady characters. Much of the story plays out from the interior of his car, but said story turns out to be quite unremarkable, the usual mix of drugs, money, kidnapping, and small-time hoodlums. I didn't think much of the script, which is all mindless profanity, while the action never really gets going and there are too many cliches at the end of the day. I much preferred DRIVE which tells a similar tale in a much more powerful way.

Overrated and Boring

"Wheelman" is an overrated and boring low-budget by thriller Jeremy Rush. The performances of Frank Grillo and Caitlin Carmichael are not bad but the screenplay in one location most of the time with repetitive dialogues is tedious and there is no character development. My vote is five.
Title (Brazil): Not Available
It has a red trunk
This is another film where nearly all the action takes place inside of a car. We have seen too many of such films and they have a different scenario, but the bottom line is that it takes place in a car, typically with one guy on a phone (or not) trying to sort out his life. And it doesn't matter what the plot or caliber of the star, the film will always suck.
In this film Frank Grille stars as "Wheelman" the driver of a bank robbery. Frank get conflicting orders, things go bad, family issues, blah blah blah all being handled on a phone in a black BMW with a red trunk.
