Overly familiar

WELCOME HOME is yet another overly-familiar psycho-thriller about a young couple in their new home who find themselves menaced by a new neighbour who starts out seemingly friendly. Yes, it's the same old kind of story that's been done a million times before, and there's nothing here you won't have seen before either. There's plenty of incident but very little in the way of suspense, not helped by having the most unimposing villain ever. Aaron Paul plays another unsympathetic character while underwear model Emily Ratajkowski displays little talent other than for disrobing at regular intervals.

a bit bland

Cassie Ryerson (Emily Ratajkowski) and Bryan Palmer (Aaron Paul) are spending their vacation at an Italian rental villa off the internet. They don't realize that someone is watching them with the security cameras. Cassie sprains her ankle while jogging and Federico stops to help.

Ratajkowski is not a good actress. Is it bad to say even her running looks wrong? Anyways, her acting is not the issue. Her beauty is good enough to offset that. There is one moment when Federico's threatening demeanor could be much scarier. Ratajkowski doesn't have the vulnerable innocence to pay that off. The basic premise is basically fine. There isn't much other than one minor twist. The big takeaway is nothing special. In the end, it's a little too slow and the tension isn't that high. It's not the most horrible thing on Netflix.

Unwatchable

Where to begin... A young couple vacation at a remote villa in Italy to repair their troubled relationship. They soon encounter their seemingly over-friendly neighbour whose motives are anything but kind. Okay so, first of all, the plot itself is too similar to better movies that have come before it. The performances by the two lead actors (Emily Ratajkowski & Aaron Paul) are just terrible. Which is disappointing as I a big Aaron fan since Breaking Bad. The whole thing is just so awkward to watch, and leaves you cringing for all the wrong reasons. I've always thought Emily Ratakjowski was a mediocre actress, but this bumps her down to just plain terrible. Her only skill she seems to possess in this film is moaning. Take a drink? Moan. Sprain an ankle? Moan. Just beat a guy to death?....... Yep you're right again. If you want to spend an hour and a half listening to the overtly/unnecessary sexualised moans of Emily Ratajkowski, then this is the movie for you. Otherwise, if you find that sort of thing unbearable - do yourselves a favour and skip it.
