I guess sorority girls really do suck...

Well, this wasn't no Bram Stoker's "Dracula", nor was it (luckily) not a Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" either. This movie was sort of a light-hearted romantic comedy with just a hint of horror, oh, and with vampires.

The story is about a college professor named Wayne Gretzky (played by Adam Johnson) who becomes enthralled with the new student to his class Chris Keller (played by Julie Gonzalo). They start to have a relationship, but it turns out that they have more in common than just a mutual attraction. And the fact that Wayne is a vampire also does tend to prove somewhat of an issue in matters of the heart.

I will say that the storyline was fairly straight forward, however, it wasn't particularly an impressive or overly interesting storyline. And what kept the movie afloat was the use of comedy throughout the movie. Mind you, it is not the kind of comedy that will have you laughing hard and in tears, but it is the kind that worked well enough and was just subtle enough to peak its funny head.

It should be noted, however, that the people hired for the various roles and characters were actually doing good jobs with the roles and characters that they were given. It was just the script that proved somewhat of a ball and chain around their ankles.

In overall, then "Vamp U" is a movie that is intended for a young teenage girl audience, and it doesn't really offer much for others in the audience, as this movie is a no brainer from start to end.

Could have been more, but it catered to a teenage girl audience.

Vamping like it's 1399

I apologize. I liked a dumb 2 star film like a 4 star production. Wayne Gretzky (Adam Johnson) is a vampire who accidentally killed Mary (Julie Gonzalo) the love of his life in 1711. For 300 years his fangs have become limp as he feeds off animal blood and confides his troubles to Dr. Arthur Levine (Gary Cole). Dr. G known as "The Great One" is a history professor who teaches history as if he was there...and he was.

As it turns out Mary didn't die, she just became Amish. Her daughter, who could pass for her twin (also played by Julie Gonzalo) , seduces Dr. G. leading to a vampire creating and killing free for all.

The humor was pun filled, something I could sink my teeth into. Adam Johnson came across like a cross between Paul Giamatti and Zack Garifalakis. The one classroom scene of an excited student was reminiscent of one in "Back to School" however Tom (Matt Mattson) made me laugh. He is a member of the STD fraternity and vampire blogger.

A mix between American Pie and Buffy, nice.

I like the new vampire movies, so this one was on my list. It's nothing like Twilight, just saying (I liked Twilight, but I know there are a lot of people who are not very fond of the whole shiny-vampire-romance). This is definitely nothing like it. I did read the review that was written here on IMDb, and so I did not expect much of it, but it was a nice movie. I had a couple of laughs, definitely did not waste my time, and there are some pretty nasty things going on, made it interesting. Couldn't help but thinking it was kinda like a mix between American Pie and Buffy. So if you like fantasy, bloodsucking hot teenage girls & bad jokes - watch it.
