They didn't even try

First 20 min in I had enough. If the story line is that there's two people attached together so at least put an effort to make us believe they are! Are they attached at the stomach? No they lie down on their back , ok, are they attached by their sides? No they move and we clearly see they are not. And so on. It's poor execution even if the premises are interesting . If I don't believe the story, how can I watch and like it?

Intriguing idea not quite well executed

As "Two" (2021 release from Spain; 71 min.) opens, a woman wakes up, she is on top of a guy she doesn't know, and it's not long before they figure out that, horror of horrors, they are sewn together at the abdomen. How did they get there? Were they drugged? Who is behind this? Are they held for ransom? At this point we are less than 10 minutes into the movie.

Couple of comments: this is the latest from Spanish director Mar Targarona. Here Targarona examines what happens when two strangers wake up, naked and sewn together and they have no idea what is going on. Let me immediately address the obvious: if you are looking for something like "The Human Centipede". Don't bother. "Two" is NOTHING like that, and in fact "Two" is more of a psychological drama than it is a pure shock piece. Much of the movie plays out in real time. Ah yes, the running time is only 71 min but as I was watching this, the short running time didn't bother me. What did bother me is the less then perfect execution of this intriguing premise, in particular the multiple positions that the two protagonists physically find themselves in, which would seem to be impossible since they are, you know, stitched together... Kudos to the two leads, Marina Gatell (as Sara) and Pablo Derogen (as David),in what must not have been an easy shoot, and I'm being mild.

I had never heard of this movie until I saw a (short) review of it recently in the New York Times (calling it a "one trick pony"). It's currently streaming on Netflix. Bottom line: while there are obvious limits to this film, I nevertheless enjoyed it better than expected, in particular as it relates to the psychological aspects if it all. Of course don't take y word for it, so I encourage you to check it out and draw your own conclusion.

Might have worker better as a chapter of an anthology film

Two: Two people, a man and a woman awake in a bed to find their abdomens have been stitched together. They have never met before and there is mutual suspicion. However they have to reach a modus vivendi and co-ordinate their actions to actually move. There are some scenes of horror here, even existential terror but is far too wordy. All is explained and though there is a grand guignol ending Two does not follow the brevity of that school. Even at 70 minutes it's too drawn out and might have worked better as an episode of an anthology series or film. Directed by Mar Targarona, Written by Cuca Canals,Christian Molina & Mike Hostench. On Netflix. 5/10.
