Toxie, as a musical, can really be summed up with one word - average. It doesn't get anything majorly wrong, but it also doesn't do anything ground-breaking.

On the negative side, we have the fact that far too many "jokes" revolve around one of the character's blindness. A few jokes, that's cool. Dozens of jokes? Nope.

Also, the story is so formulaic, it can border on a bit dull.

However, on the positive side, the songs are really rather good, and the performances from the cast are great.

I'm surprised that it's been out a few years and, at the time of writing this review, only has two other reviews. That's strange. Many musicals don't end up being filmed, so I would have thought musical theatre fans would have watched this more than they did. With that in mind, I have to praise the team behind the musical for filming it and getting it out there - more musicals need to do this in future.

If you don't watch it you wont miss anything. Average of general musicals nothing special. Please stop writing same type of stories again again again. Every american written story has same spine. Stop using spines be creative please.

First of all, I really really regretted downloading the musical, I was seriously sure I was going to dislike it when I realized it was based on a horror movie from 1984. BUT I had nothing better to do so I thinked 'what the hell, lets watch the first 15 minutes atleast' I dident leave my chair before the show was finished, and not because I fall asleep either. It was truly a nice musical, the music was nice most of the time, the dialog between the music was somewath clever. The caracters fits exelent to the actors and its clear that they have played the show multiple times and really have good chemistry on stage. The interaction between the actors and the musicans/audience reminds you on the fact that this is "all live audience". IMDB call it a musical, I would call it "musical, comedy, horror, action and drama", in that order :) Im REALLY REALLY happy I watched this musical, there are no reasons not to watch it. My only problem is that I now really need to find "The Toxic Avenger" from 1984 and wath that one too, hope I get suprized there too.
