If Russ Myers did a thriller - this is it.

Amateur acting, photography not very good, but if your a fan of 70's grindhouse combined with Russ Myers inuendos, this is the film for you. Its not memorable in any serious way, just a bit of fun, for all sorts of wacky reasons.

Great for what it is.

It's no budget movie so I grade them on a curve. It's a trapped in a small town movie like "Breakdown" and "The Hills Have Eyes" except the main bad guy is upper-class. There are a few local yokels though like the Nub and the extra creepy dad. He made my mom's skin crawl. The bad guy's wife is straight out of a John Waters or Russ Meyer movie. She is creepy and hilarious at times. The female leads are like a younger version of "Thelma and Louise". They're in trouble and try to runaway but can't so they must face their fears to survive. There's some surprises along the way too. If you enjoy low-budget movies then you should check this out.

A no budget thriller that works pretty well at times

THE LONE ROAD is a LOT better than I was expecting considering its origins as a shot-on-digital-video thriller. It's a film with a proper plot, for starters, and a good depiction of a small town conspiracy with action and thriller elements. The tale is about an innocent woman who accidentally witnesses a murder at her motel and who subsequently finds herself on the run from those involved.

This film features well delineated characters and attractive cast members giving performances which are a bit better than normal. It's not an exploitation movie although there's ample nudity throughout. The special effects betray the film's low budget origins and occasionally the supporting cast give rubbish performances. But otherwise this is fairly suspenseful and involving to boot, making it feel fresh and energetic at times.
