Movie starts, a teenager girl naked body is found beside a river . The police assumes,some kind of religious act, as the the body was throughly washed and a cookie is placed on the lower private part. As the time passes,there are more girls who are disappearing and the next day, they are found dead on the same forest. The female police who has a traumatic past, set out to find the cookie's ingredients and find the shop. Surprisingly,her sister has a cookie shop. She asked her for the list of shops and ingredients however,she provided her with wrong information. What's her motive?
The cops are searching and they found a hundred of bones in a cave, on the other hand, the chief has found out about the involvement of her family and pushed her out of the case. Will she able to find the motive behind all these murders?
I loved it from starting, it compelling. But, as the time passes, it felt so absurd. Ending could have been better but it was totally messed.
Plot summary
Amaia Salazar, a police inspector in Pamplona (capital city of Navarra; north to Spain),is sent by her superior to investigate a murder due to her personal relation with the place of the corpse. The case concerns a teenage girl whose naked body is found at the side of the Baztán river close to little town of Elizondo, Amaia's birthplace, a rainy village surrounded by forests and mounts located in the middle of Baztán's valley, full of local myths and ancient superstitions. Her marriage to James Westford, an American sculptor and artist gallery, is falling apart due to her desire for a child, and despite she never wanted back to her family home, Amaia Salazar is forced to face the past and reconnect with her lovely and tarot's card caster Aunt Engrasi, and too with her older sisters Flora and Rosaura. Helped by Engrasi and her tarot's readings as well as Amaia's former mentor and FBI's agent Aloisius Dupree by video-conference looking for new clues and other point of view to find the killer, Amaia's instinct for criminal cases will be challenged according to more naked bodies of teenage girls are found in the forest, where an ancient myth says that it's protected by a giant supernatural creature named Basajaun, at the same time that she's stalked by her child memories. Trying to solve the case and discover the identity of the killer, Amaia must not only confront her distant and troubled relation with her sisters and her own childhood trauma from the several abuses of her demented mother, who tried to kill her at child, but also the each time bigger suspicion that perhaps the serial killer is someone who is too much close to her and her family, putting all of them in serious danger.

Started well but ending was messed
The Invisible Guardian
As this film opens the body of a girl is found by a river in a wooded area in the Spanish province of Navarre. Amaia Salazar, an inspector in the Policía Foral, the regional police force, is put in charge of the case. She has recently returned to the area with her American husband. The case is quickly linked to a very similar recent murder; Amaia fears there may be a serial killer operating in the area. While trying to solve the case she will also have to deal with family issues and confront events from her childhood.
This film gets off to a fine start; once the first body is found we are quickly introduced to protagonist Amaia and throughout the film learn more about her and her past. She is a solid protagonist; Marta Etura does a fine job in the role. As one would expect in a serial killer film the murders follow a distinct pattern and the bodies are posed in a way that means something to the killer... a little cliché perhaps but the genre demands that the police know they are looking for a serial killer soon after the story begins. The film has a great look with impressive wooded scenery and near constant rain creating a great atmosphere. There are some flaws of course; as we get towards the end things get rather melodramatic, some of the family drama could probably have been trimmed and I could have done without Amaia getting guidance from tarot cards! Overall though I enjoyed the film and will watch the next film in the trilogy; I'd recommend it to fans of the genre.

Intriguing thriller
A great first movie in the Amaia Salazar trilogy. The storyline is well developed, the characters have depth and are well acted, and the cinematography is awesome. The dark vibes this movie gives off are intense. Amaias back story is interweaved into the story quite well, giving just enough info to keep you interested. Well done.
