This Irish film is about a drummer (with Bipolar) who develops an unlikely friendship with a keeper (with Asperger's). The two leads delivered convincing performances and had excellent chemistry. The characters felt well developed and I found them believable.
Equal parts charming, depressive and heartwarming - I was engaged the whole time and rooting for each character to overcome their challenges. The film has a refreshing original vibe - even though some elements were predictable towards the end.
If you like Netflix's "Atypical" then you'll probably love this. Being a drummer myself, it added an extra layer of interest. "The Drummer and the Keeper" is an uplifting hidden gem that put a big smile on my face. Recommend!
I know it will be a film that stays with me for days.

Plot summary
Gabriel (DERMOT MURPHY) is a chaotic young rock drummer desperate to hide his recent Bipolar diagnosis from his increasingly exasperated band mates. At the therapeutic mixed ability football game he's obliged to attend as part of his treatment Gabriel is spectacularly upended by goalkeeper Christopher (JACOB McCARTHY),an institutionalised 17-year-old with Aspergers Syndrome. Having taken violent revenge, Gabriel faces expulsion - and the prospect of being sectioned - unless he "makes friends" with Christopher. When the isolated and socially-inept young goalkeeper takes this grudging offer of friendship literally, Gabriel finds his footsteps dogged and secrets threatened by an embarrassingly eager and dangerously tactless new disciple.

An underrated gem of a movie - highly recommend!
Utterly horrible rubbish that has no reflection on either bipolar or aspergers
Terrible music, terrible beyond terrible script, woefully inept actors, (the football coach was good,) shameless plug for psychiatry that plugs medication and not actually helping people who are troubled and need proper therapy.
Did I miss something that I hated beyond belief in this ludicrously bad piece of garbage?
Oh yes, I do know people with bipolar and also aspergers - none of them behave like this, they're worse, certainly more colourful and sometimes really wonderful. It seems that someone thought, 'Oh, let's make a film that whitewashes bipolar and 'fixes' it with a supercilious shrink's lazy drug prescription, deal with NOTHING to do with the actual condition and while we're at it, let's pop in a house full of people who don't 'fit' into society and someone who apparently has aspergers... that way we'll get all the public sympathy we need, a plug for pharmaceauticals and throw in a decrepit, dead and limp script we dug up from a dumpster, oh, and also pretend we have a clue about music.
The other reviews are paid ones. This is tripe. I WASTED MY MONEY, and the 35 minutes I could bare to watch this tripe.
Treat yourself to a unique story carried by brilliant acting/directing and soundtrack.
I just love everything about this movie. Couldn't fault it. The story is so unique and it has been treated with such care and respect. Acting is brilliant with great soundtrack and directing. What is it about these Irish movies? Begosh and begorrah, they're a joy to watch.
