Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer star in The Choice and the thesis of this romantic treatise is that life is made up of choices and what decisions we make set the course of our lives, especially our love lives.
In the case of Palmer she's a medical student and involved with a rich young doctor. But on a fateful night she meets up with Walker who is a veterinarian, a neighbor, and a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. Palmer is involved with Tom Welling late of Smallville who is a doctor from a wealthy family. But one fine day Welling goes to Atlanta to set up what sounds like an HMO. While he's away Walker and Palmer after a fashion decide they're right for each other. It's wedding bells and kids and a few years of wedded bliss.
But 'happily ever after' isn't for them at least just yet. Palmer made the critical choice to marry Walker. Later though it is Walker who is stuck with an even more critical choice involving Palmer.
Walker and Palmer play well against each other, they have a good affirmative chemistry for the screen. The Choice is a nice romantic comedy/drama about true love and what it can cost.

Travis and Gabby
another Nicholas Sparks
Travis Shaw (Benjamin Walker) is a veterinarian living on the North Carolina coast. His younger sister Steph (Maggie Grace) is staying with him. He's dating Monica (Alexandra Daddario). He works with his father (Tom Wilkinson). He's a ladies' man and everybody loves him except his new neighbor Gabby Holland (Teresa Palmer). Her dog Molly got pregnant and she suspects his dog Moby. She hates his roguish charms. She's a medical student going out with fellow doctor Ryan McCarthy (Tom Welling).
I'm not that impressed with Benjamin Walker. Teresa Palmer does a funny infuriated uptight girl. Despite not buying into Walker's charms, I'm willing to buy the couple's chemistry. It culminates to a funny proposal. Then the movie struggles. It's another Nicholas Sparks book but this time, the prerequisite tragedy has nothing interesting to offer. It's not a good movie to start with but the last act meanders to a nothing ending.
Enjoyable Love Story

"The Choice" is enjoyable love story with nice characters divided in two parts, beginning with a witty romance and ending with a heartbreaking drama. Teresa Palmer is the greatest attraction and never disappoints. The fat Tom Welling surprises those that followed the "Smalville" series. The unknown Benjamin Walker has a good performance and his declaration of his love to Gabby's family is the best part of this film. My vote is seven.
