The worst movie ever!!!! I saw so many documentaries about this rescue and they were fantastic and yet this movie failed terribly. Why focus the movie on Jim Varny when he only played a supporting role during the rescue!!!!! Terrible movie!!!! No mention of Richard Harris, Craig Challen, Ric Stanton and John Volanthen, Jason Mallinson and Chris Jewell!!!!????? They were the British and Australian cave divers who played the major roles in the rescue of these boys. The director tired to cover with dramatic music and cinematography. While the on set scenes were realistic. The script was rather weak. Felt like there were some deleted scenes. Doesn't connect smoothly. It's more like a documentary than a movie. The director used hand-held method to film this movie, and I felt dizzy just after 5 minutes of watching.

Plot summary
When a youth football team of 12 boys, aged 11-16, and their 25-year-old coach is trapped deep inside a cave in Northern Thailand, thousands of volunteers and soldiers from around the world unite in a race against time to find them. Once the boys are found alive ten days later, the only way out is an impossible five-hour dive-swim that only expert cave divers could survive. In Ireland, airplane factory electrician and recreational cave diver Jim Warny gets the call: "How soon can you be here?" Arriving in Thailand, Jim steps off the plane and into the cave - a knife-edge three-day mission is underway. Based on true events, THE CAVE tells the thrilling story of the largest international rescue mission of modern times, from the unique perspective of the men and women facing life-and-death decisions and displaying selfless determination and sacrifice, culminating in a triumphant outcome against all the odds.

Movie Reviews
Better watch the real video of the real rescue on line than watching this movie.
Ultimately, the film's pacing and style let it down.
One could venture the absence of checks and balances allowed this to happen. Tom Waller directed, produced and co-wrote Cave Rescue. It has "passion project" written all over.
I liked it.
I didn't follow the news of this when it happened so do not really know how accurate it is. But as a movie it was enjoyable.
I used to cave dive and could not fault the technical stuff. It was a bit of a shock that they drugged the children to get them out.
