Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) grew up in Jim Crow Texas where his business smarts could never be fully utilized. He and his wife (Nia Long) move out to L. A but the racist establish is still keeping him from doing business. He reluctantly partners with nightclub owner Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson). They use their underling Matt Steiner (Nicholas Hoult) as the front man to build a fortune in L. A. real estate.
This is a great story with some great performers. It's great history. It's a matter of fact. The only false note happens when Matt uses Florance's lawyer. It seems overly dumb for him unless the movie can set it up better. It would help if Florance presents two faces to the three men. He can be friendly to Matt but when he threatens them, Matt can't be there. It has to be reasonable that Matt can't foresee what happens. In a way, he has to be the traditional white guy who can't see some aspects of the racism because the racism isn't directed at him. All in all, it's a compelling story and the three lead actors are great.

Plot summary
Revolutionary businessmen Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) and Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson) devise an audacious and risky plan to take on the racist establishment of the 1960s by helping other African Americans pursue the American dream. Along with Garrett's wife Eunice (Nia Long),they train a working class white man, Matt Steiner (Nicholas Hoult),to pose as the rich and privileged face of their burgeoning real estate and banking empire - while Garrett and Morris pose as a janitor and a chauffeur. Their success ultimately draws the attention of the federal government, which threatens everything the four have built.

Inspired by a true story.
Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) left Texas to LA to get involved in the real estate business as a block buster. He needs the help of Samuel L. Jackson and a white man to be the face of the business. They do exceptionally well and then they decided to mess with Texas in 1963.
I didn't know how it would end so it held my interest knowing they were real folks. Good drama.
Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.
Story worth to be told, maybe and hopefully educational for some intolerant people.
Inspired by true events The Banker shows how in a not that distant past black people just didn't have the same rights and opportunies as white people. Nowadays there is some progress made even though there are still a lot of people that will judge people just by the color of their skin and that without knowing the person. There always will be people that base their judgement of somebody by the color of their skin, racism is for dumb people and dumb people we will always have. That said this story is worth to be told, and definitely helped in giving everybody, no matter what race or religion you belong to, a chance to have equal opportunities and rights to make money or to live where you want. Great job from Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult and the rest of the cast, excellent acting from their part. George Nolfi made this movie most enjoyable to watch. The movie deserves a high rating and certainly doesn't deserve negative reviews.
