Cliché, even if it's utopian

"It is not always possible to touch a person's life. Most of the time the person is alone despite everything."

But I don't know if this is because of the discomfort of the utopian universe or the numbness of the actors; Even seeing the message and the result was very tiring for me.

Life as a choice. Should we intervene in the choices of others?

A movie that feels as superficial as profound on the subject of suicide normalization. This ambivalence, is in fact, something that works quite well in its favor. It doesn't strike as overly dramatic, but it still packs all the emotions one would expect when covering such a topic.

45 minutes were enough for me to feel close to the characters, to care about them, to wonder about their struggles, their dreams, their hopes, their disappointments.

I feel that, for some, this movie can come as quite provocative and insulting (to those for whom life is an unquestionable obligation and bless). If that is your case, this is probably not for you. For those who are willing to accept a view through which life is, most of all, an individual right, I definitely recommend these well-crafted 45 minutes.

An affecting "What if?" at Suicide Hotel

Director KEFF delivers more in 40-minutes than most directors can in two hours. Questioning our purpose in a dislocated society is something most of us can relate to but what happens when the questioning is bigger than the fake faces we wear for fake onlookers? What happens when all that remains is oneself?

Who am I? And am I happy enough with myself to keep on living... or will I reach for the razor blade, noose or poison? But it's not as if an existential asteroid is about to hit us. Maybe one person's reaching hand is all that it takes to choose life.

Dialogue and mood driven, our two characters search for connection filled me with anticipation... except that I never knew if that would be towards dread or relief. That subtle suspense creates the mood but the theme of despair is greater.

'Taipei Suicide Story' is one of the most poignant and interesting movies I've watched in 2021, and dangerously perfect for those feeling philosophically lonely during covid.

KEFF is a director to keep track of.
