I first saw this in 2008 on a dvd which I own. Revisited it recently. The film has a nice dose of atmosphere, brutal violence, tension and a ferocious mad dog and an even madder female protagonist. Nadia Fares (The Crimson Rivers n War) looks stunning in this movie. The movie has plenty of implausibilities. A female is able to think fast n make a booby trap within mins. How she is able to think n make an anti rape weapon is a big lol.
I dont kno why the director, Jamie Blanks (Urban Legends, Valentine) is not making more horror movies.

Plot summary
On a weekend boating excursion, husband and wife, Rob and Pia become lost and end up in the most unlikely place, a thick brush filled marsh, on an island in the middle of nowhere. With their boat in disarray, darkness coming on, and a heavy thunderstorm starting up, their only solution is to look for help or seek shelter of some kind. They finally come across a decrepit house and barn with no one home. However, there are definite signs of the house being inhabited, and the enormous crop of marijuana in the barn suggests the homeowners may not welcome their presence. Even worse, there is no telephone or means of communication to the outside world. But when the deranged, redneck owners, Brett, Jimmy and their even more sadistic father Poppy return, Rob and Pia realize a fear far beyond anything they have ever known. Furious with the unwanted intrusion of the affluent, snooping intruders, the monstrously sadistic farmers imprison and torture the couple, who fearing for their lives, submit to appalling degradation and humiliation. When Rob and Pia learn their kidnappers have no intention of ever letting them go alive, they finally understand they must do whatever it takes just to survive, and whatever it takes means going to a limit they could never have imagined...

Nothin new but it's a brutal survival thriller.
Suspenseful and sick B-movie is fantastic fun
STORM WARNING is a film with the cards stacked against it. The plot, about a couple of innocent travellers falling foul of some psycho rednecks in the middle of nowhere, has literally been done to death so many times that just reading it on the back of the box made me yawn. Director Jamie Blanks was only known for directing a couple of pretty lame Hollywood horrors, URBAN LEGEND and VALENTINE, so he didn't seem to be the ideal guy to make a full-throttle horror/thriller combo. Plus it's a low budget movie with no notable actors. Indications were that this film was going to be dire.
While I can't say that it blew me away, I will say this: it kept me watching. This is a film all about the suspense and tension which is slowly racked up over a ponderously paced first half before letting rip towards the climax. Yes, it's predictable, with a tired, seen-it-all-before air to it. There are elements of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes here, along with the sub-genre of 'home horrors' in which innocents are besieged in their homes by psycho gangs (the last one I watched was the execrable FUNNY GAMES U.S., so probably anything I saw afterwards would look good by comparison). But this isn't a film about plot or dialogue. It's a raw, survival-horror with a visceral edge.
The characters intrigued me. French heroine Nadia Fares is another in a long line of tough, take-no-prisoners female fighters in the vein of Ellen Ripley, and watching her transform from timid victim into hammer-wielding killer is a plot of fun. She's saddled with a boring husband and up against three slimy redneck characters whose idea of fun is to kill travellers and steal their cars, rape pretty women, and sometimes enjoy a bit of 'long pig'. A lot of the suspense is built up through taut dialogue scenes, which made more of an impact on me than the usual torture-gore style employed by most horror makers today.
But then the film reaches its home run, and Fares starts fighting back. It then turns gory. Very gory. Skin-ripping, intestine-scattering gory, completely over the top. It works, because the film-makers invite us to laugh along with the gore. Fares sets up some wicked traps to assail her victims with, and watching them get their just desserts is a matter of high entertainment. I defy anyone not to clap with joy come the last-reel denouement and another splattery death for one of the bad guys. In the end, this is a fine film, a breath of fresh air in a very tired genre. Jamie Blanks' direction is spot on, and the cast really get into it. The gore effects are very well handled and this doesn't leave a bad taste in the mouth like many grisly horrors these days. It may not be terrifying or disturbing like WOLF CREEK, but it is suspenseful, and it is a lot of fun. I recommend it.
Brutal and Gore
The lawyer Rob (Robert Taylor) and his French wife Pia (Nadia Farès) rent a small motor boat to spend the day fishing at the sea. In the end of the day, Rob decides to steer the boat through marsh islands but they become lost and stranded while a storm is coming.
Rob decides to walk with Pia to find a shelter and they reach a dilapidated house with no one home. Rob also finds a decrepit greenhouse with a plantation of marijuana. Out of the blue, three rednecks arrive in the place and the abusive and deranged brothers Jimmy (David Lyons) and Brett (Mathew Wilkinson) point shotguns to them and torture Rob and Pia while their father "Poppy" (John Brumpton) goes to his room to rest. The couple soon realizes that Pia will be raped by the sadistic and they will be killed after and they decide to fight back.
"Storm Warning" is a brutal and gore slasher with an unoriginal storyline that surprisingly works well, supported by great direction and performances and excellent cinematography, special effects and camera work. The decision of Pia, when she learns that she will be raped by the rednecks, is the best moment of this highly recommended film. My vote is seven.
