It's the summer of '61. College student Bob Zellner (Lucas Till) decides to talk to Rosa Parks for a school paper on race relations. It starts him down the road to the civil rights fight and self discovery.

This movie starts with Bob getting hung from a tree. Next, he jumping to talk to Rosa Parks. Before all that, the movie should introduce the audience to Bob himself. He comes off as unnecessarily clueless. Part of that is Lucas Till and his model good looks. He seems to fit more on a Californian beach. He's also not showing enough shock. Lucas has a tendency to seem above it all. This is a biopic of a real life person. I have to assume that there is some reality to the performance. The short reel of the real Bob gives off a slightly different vibe except when he's confronting Doc in that one scene. I do find the portrayal of ingrained racism of that time and place very compelling. I'm fascinated with his relationship to his grandfather. I wish for more of the father son relationship. I absolutely believe that Lucas Till is white. I'm just not sure if he's Bob.

The smallest things can make a difference. Sometimes a change of scenery is necessary to understand a broader and wider picture. To understand we are one species - we should not let anyone divide us, because of certain differences - be it gender, color of your skin, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or not and so many other things.

Those things make us individual - but neither better nor worse than others. We decide what we become and who and what we stand for. Racial divide is the theme here - something that still cuts deep, not just in the south of America. Actually not just in America, but worldwide. But America has a "special" history with it ... and nothing to be proud of either (no matter if you are a boy or a man).

Very well played and edited - and a movie that will sometimes drive you mad. It should at least ...

This film start with a man "Bob" been pulling out from a car, and he been hang with a rope scene! As turnout, this film is about Bob insist to marching with the colored people during the Civil Rights Movement, even disapprove by his family! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the drinking scene, overuse of the eating scene, overuse of the driving scene, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the arguing scene, overuse of the watching TV scene, overuse of the calling names scene, overuse of the receiving call scene, and overuse of the reading newspaper scene! Make the film unwatchable! Barely intense scene is, the riot scene in the film! At the end, after confront with Doc, Bob went away with Joanne! Still have a post credit scene! The signboard at the road writing "Angels who guard you when you drive usually retire at 65"! That's it! Another disappointed film!
