I BRING JUSTICE

Karen Black is back as the mother of our slasher killer Kenny Boyd (Kevin Corrigan). Kenny was tormented by a group of men early in the film. After fathering a daughter Amy, now 11 (Ariel Gade) and spending time in the "looney bin" he is back in his home town working at the local ice cream parlor. Revenge is being enacted on those who tormented him, all the while his estranged daughter is attempting to establish a relationship. The town sheriff (Barry Bostwick) investigating the murders is dating Kenny's mom. A British woman named Stephanie (Lucy Davis) has designs on Kenny.

The police officers investigating the case come across as the typical Hollywood dumb cops. The sheriff says things like, " (When I find him I will) tear his skin off and make him wear his own skin."

Karen Black gets in a few good lines:

Karen: "Kenny cooked lasagne once." Amy: "Was it good?" Karen: "Yes." Kenny: "Really?" Karen: "Don't make me lie twice."

Kenny keeps himself sheltered. His daughter is forcing him out of his comfort zone. The humor is a somewhat subtle. I am tempted to watch it a second time to pick up things I may have missed. If you enjoy quirky slashers, I suggest "Chop."

Parental Guide: F-bombs, no sex, no nudity.

"Steal This Movie" meets "Day of the Locust" meets "Rocky Horror Picture Show" meets "The Office" meets "The Phantom Menace"

While the title might make it sound like a thriller or horror flick, "Some Guy Who Kills People" is actually a clever black comedy. The protagonist is a socially awkward man whose teammates-turned-tormenters from high school are mysteriously turning up murdered. So what's going on?

This is not a movie that will appeal to everyone. The dark humor and gruesome violence is sure to turn quite a few people off. But if you can accept the unabashedly weird material, then you're going to take a lot of pleasure in this flick.

As for the cast, it's a neat mashup: Kevin Corrigan (Jerry Rubin in the Abbie Hoffman biopic "Steal This Movie"),Karen Black (one of the stars of New Hollywood in the '70s),Barry Bostwick (Brad in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"),Lucy Davis (Dawn on the British version of "The Office") and Ahmed Best (the voice of Jar Jar Binks; people alleged that Jar Jar Binks sounded Jamaican, but I thought that he sounded more Cajun).

What a nice surprise this movie turned out to be...

This movie totally surprised me in a good way. With the name of the movie, I thought that this was going to be one of those movies. Yeah, you know the kind I am talking about. Boy was I surprised when this movie was finished.

Despite having a super cheesy named, "Some Guy Who Kills People", then the movie really had a great storyline and it was really nicely executed. Plus the characters in the movie were really interesting, vibrant and full of personalities. And of course, the great cast really helped moving the movie along nicely.

The story is about socially-challenged Ken Boyd (played quite well by Kevin Corrigan) who has been released from a mental institution, and he is now living in a small rural community. Having been bullied by a bunch of people, Ken plans for the demise of his tormentors. Unforeseen, his estranged daughter shows up in his life after 11 years, and Ken is now also struggling to coming to terms with being a father.

"Some Guy Who Kills People" does have a great list of actors and actresses to its credit. As mentioned above, then Kevin Corrigan really did a great job in portraying the main character. And his daughter, played by Ariel Gade, really brought a lot of charisma and merriment to the movie. It was also great to see Barry Bostwick and Karen Black in their respective roles.

This is the type of movie that lets you slip into the storyline alongside the characters, because they are so nicely portrayed and have a lot of depth to their personalities. You quickly form bonds with characters and get carried away into the movie.

The movie is so wonderfully absurd and twisted that it is actually fun and a great treat to watch. The director, Jack Perez, really handled the balance between comedy and horror so well, and made it work so great, and the end result is a rather enjoyable movie that most likely will surprise most viewers.

If you haven't seen "Some Guy Who Kills People" yet, then you should treat yourself to it, because it is well worth a watch.
