I must say, I'm not really into west african movies at all, but this one grasped my attention due to the way they explore the culture of typical Cameroonian ethinc, i mean rural community...depsite the whole movie its all about two families.
I love the slow plot potray but actions seemed pretty getting along, until u realise u just watched more in just few mins.
It really watchable, and of course, enjoyable. Love the watery sex scene in the river, so real, and of course when mbango's Mom die.
Actors did a great job and the story is pretty good, actually. The set, makes me pretty interested to watch more films like these from africans, but of course, someone has to recommend me the best ones

Family drama in West Africa
This is an unusual film, it was shot locally with local people who, I dare say, had no acting experience. Yet it is interesting. I was unaware of where it was made when I began watching it, and it began to drive me mad trying to guess where. The actors were speaking in pidgin English, I could understand a lot of it, and it is West African pidgin, as I learned in Nigeria. But I did not recognise the local language and there were aspects of the surroundings which made me conclude quite quickly that it wasn't Nigeria. I thought it might be Ghana (Nigeria's northern Neighbour) but it turns out to be Cameroon, to the south of Nigeria.
Simply Amazing
Saving Mbango is a typical Cameroonian story which relates to every community which exists. Story - The journey of John and Mbango's love story is simply beautiful, the mixed emotions one experiences when watching keeps one routing for this love like it were ours to work out, i cannot imagine turning my head away when watching its an enjoyable piece. Performance- The lead role John played by Godisma Fungwa perfomance is one in which one cannot emuliate, he is a unique lad with potential. The overrall perfomance of the story from John to mbango and the supporting cast was pleasant, finely done and fun. Overall- Higly recomended family watch. Pontential- No bragging but this movie has an OSCAR pontential.
