Satyameva Jayate - there's a self-styled vigilante on the rampage, assigning corrupt police officers to flames, cleansing the society. Justified or not, his actions find support from a section of the society that suffers the ills of bribery and extortion at the hands of the law-keepers. Enter an investigator with a clean track record who roars filmy dialogues and is extremely camera friendly, rattling off smooth and well rehearsed interviews to the media like catching the criminal is next to sleepwalking. A cat and mouse chase ensues and the investigator cracks the secret code that gives out clues to the next murder.
Thrilling, ain't it? In reality it is not, I am just playing with words and peaking your interest with no particular objective. The first half is clever and raises your adrenalin level with an offbeat suspense dovetailing into the intermission. And then, as if the second half was made by an altogether different director - it hurtles downhill like potboilers of the 1970's. It turns into an average revenge saga with a predictable and atrociously audacious ending that's a concoction of a dozen old films whose names you can rattle off in your sleep. John Abraham is ho-hum, been there done that deadpan, there's nothing to write about him. Manoj Bajpayee is now officially typecast, takes off from where he left in Aiyaari and then does a Deewar! Newbie Aisha Sharma has precious little to do and Manish Chaudhary is wasted. 4 STARS for this patriotic melodrama that doesn't stir emotions.
Plot summary
There are about 2 Lakh policemen in Mumbai. Tasked with the safety of this enormous city, a majority of them don't necessarily have the "cleanest" of vardis. When four such police inspectors are burnt alive in a series of merciless killings, the entire police force is rocked with terror. The media is looking for answers. The public is on the fence over these killings. These crimes reflect Vir as a person. Bold, Calculating, and Unapologetic. He's not scared of killing, or dying. It was clear that he had an agenda. A reason. A drive; behind these deaths and he was far from done. Fearing the next attack, the Commissioner calls upon their best bet to catch Vir. DCP Shivansh is what a proper policeman looks like. Strong, Courageous, Patriotic and most importantly, "Clean." And of course, he's the best at what he does. What follows is a succession of events that will test his Probity to the fullest. He is up against Vir, who is a vigilante and will stop at nothing to complete his mission. This confrontation of epic proportions will take us through the corrupt underbelly of the Financial Capital. Vir and Shivansh are against the same enemy, but they are divided by a fine line. The Law. Shivansh is the "good-guy" protector of the law, whereas Vir wants to take matters into his own hands, disregarding the law. Were these meticulously planned murders just vengeance killings? Or was there order in this chaos? There's a lot at stake. Along with the lives of numerous policemen, the public's faith in the police's capability to keep them safe is also at stake. Will Vir be successful in concluding his twisted message? Or will Shivansh's Integrity and Ethicality become his biggest strength and Vir's biggest weakness?

A commercial effort to kindle patriotism that fails
One-Line Review: Satyameva Jayate (4 Stars)
Satyameva Jayate (Truth Alone Triumphs) is a rehash of that old story about police loyalty and self-righteous fight against corruption that we have seen countless times in Bollywood itself, this time with a bit of extra family melodrama. TN.
FULL OF MASS AND PATRIOSM BUT LACKS LOGIC AND SENSE
SATYAMEVA JAYATE REVIEW :
Expectations were never high from this one especially after bad trailer i was expecting it to be average or somewhere around there and it has landed somewhere close to that status. The same script could have been told in much better way to make it a Clean good film and surpass all the Expectations but that didn't happen due to weak direction of Milap Zaveri who is yet to give a Film to be remembered and Satyameva Jayate is no different.
This is a story which run on two Paths, one is a Revenge Drama and the other one is patriotism. Writer tries to mix up these 2 stories in this single narrative and somewhere convinces you till the Interval point but goes off the track at many moments in the 2nd half. It has faadu dialogues coming from John Abraham who looks Rowdy throughout the film with his Attitude and Machoism. Manoj is somewhat weak as his character is very gentle and we needed someone more scary on the opposite side of John. Screenplay lacks the logic so does the direction. Music is Decent, enjoy the Video for few minutes if you find Audio very bad. It can be seen clearly that director wanted to make this one a complete mass film and nothing else than that. When there was actually enough potential to turn that mass into the class, but again I say a bad director can't even dare to try something unique due to the fear of failure. There are some too dramatic moments to digest, you might even like them but not fully unless you are a Hardcore Mass lover who can whistle even if Hero is just walking in a style for no valid reason.
Overall, Satyameva Jayate is made only for Mass lovers and coming on Independence day gives it a Soft Corner. You might feel bad for missing logic but it still has enough Action and Whisltle worthy moments to survive from a that 'Crap Film' tag. John should have gone for a better film if he has to come after a Classic Parmanu, which raised the Expectations bar. A strictly average film can be watched only in this Independence Weekend Feeling mindset, else skip it on any other day. On Box office this one will lack the trending like Parmanu and will fall way behind its Competitor Gold, though it will be a Success!
