Right, well as I read the synopsis for this 2016 Norwegian horror comedy, I have to admit that I was definitely interested in the movie, so of course I immediately sat down to watch it.
But I have to say that writers Hedda Hørran and Jørn Steen didn't really manage to deliver a script and storyline that proved all that interesting. Sure, "Saga" was watchable, but that was also just about all it was, unfortunately. The storyline was incredibly slow paced and nothing much of any particular interest took place as the movie snailed its way through almost an hour and a half.
And it didn't really help much that the acting performances in the movie were sluggish and amateurish.
I have to say that I was definitely expecting a whole lot more from this movie than what director Jørn Steen managed to deliver. Especially given the interesting synopsis and the fact that the movie had "Halloween movie of the year" branded across the cover. And actually the movie's cover promised a whole lot more excitement than what the movie actually delivered.
The best thing about "Saga", aside from the cover, was actually the music that was in the movie, provided you enjoy metal music, of course.
"Saga" is not really a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on.
My rating of "Saga" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
