Action, Nudity, Sex and Martial Arts

"Linda" (Chikako Aoyama) is a female police officer who has been assigned to guard the son of an extremely wealthy oil sheik. Lamentably, her mission becomes a complete failure as he is consequently kidnapped and Linda (aka "Selena") is critically wounded trying to protect him. Meanwhile, at a lavish convention sponsored by the oil sheik with the goal of awarding a large contract to the best robot manufacturer, an evil Japanese robotics genius by the name of "Ryuichi Sakamoto" (Chung Lin) televises a video declaring that he has kidnapped the sheik's son and demands the sheik's complete cooperation. He then demonstrates his genius by killing himself while simultaneously transferring his mind into the computerized brain of a nearby robot. Not only does this give him incredible power and intelligence but the robot also has a remarkable human appearance as well. Not to be outdone, another scientist at the convention named "Dr. Sara" (Siu-dan Hui) also has a powerful robot with human appearances by the name of "Anna" (Amy Yip) and vows to help the sheik defeat Ryuichi Sakamoto. Although she realizes that Sakamoto's robot has the edge due to his superior human intelligence, she also devises a plan to essentially compensate for it. To do this she will need a human brain of her own and Linda is the perfect candidate. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I was surprised at the amount of action, nudity, sex and martial arts this film contained. Unfortunately, the script and the special effects were considerably bad and this really affected the overall entertainment value. Even so, there was some good humor here and there along with several sexy actresses featured including the aforementioned Chikako Aoyama, Siu-dan Hui and Amy Yip which certainly didn't hurt this film in any way. In any case, regardless of the cheap effects, I rate this movie as about average.

Category III Cinema: Robotrix

Robotrix (1991) is another starring vehicle for Amy Yip. This Japanese-Hong Kong co-production takes place in the distant future where cyborgs, androids and sex robots are common place. It's kind of hard to explain this movie. Well, it is part of the Category III genre so you'll know what to expect if you have seen these type of films before. They're filled with plenty if nudity and violence. A lot of skin and buckets of gore. Now that you know what to expect what are you waiting for? Go out and grab a copy (if you can find one) today. i have only seen a dubbed copy of this film and I wasn't that impressed. But you can't go wrong with the well endowed Amy Yip who's quite the actress. Good cheesy adult fun.

Recommended.

Packed with the worst elements of the best in exploitation

Have you ever wished that a bunch of Category 3 Hong Kong maniacs would make their own Terminator mixed with RoboCop movie and fill it with gore, sleaze and utter craziness? Good news! That movie is Robotrix!

Under the name Chien-Ming Lu, this film's director Jamie Luk appeared in Lady Exterminator, Crippled Avengers and many more films. This is the first movie of his I've seen but definitely not the last as it's packed with sheer maniacal ridiculousness.

Cast member Vincent Lyn told Richard Myers - in the book Great Martial Arts Movies: From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan - and More - "Now that was one wild shoot. The cast and crew were all over the place and you were lucky to find out what you were doing before the cameras rolled. I spent more time laughing on the set than anything else."

This is the kind of movie that features full-frontal male and female nudity, as well as numerous murder scenes with beheadings and a wire work martial arts battle between cyborgs.

Oh man, so what is it about anyways?

A mad scientist named Ryuichi Sakamoto (Chung Lin transfers his mind into a robot (former WKA champion Billy Chow, who did not show his dong in Fist of Legend),which frees him to do pretty much everything he's always wanted to, like kidnapping an Arabic businessman and killing his bodyguard, Selena Lin (Chikako Aoyama).

A non-mad scientist named Dr. Sara (Hui Hsiao-dan) transfers Selena's mind from her dead body into a cyborg named Eve-27. She rejoins the police force, bringing along the doctor's robotic assistant Ann (Amy Yip). They're soon on the trail of Sakamoto, who is leaving behind dead prostitutes pretty much everywhere he goes.

Sadly, I was hoping that Amy Yip and Chikako Aoyama would end up punishing the villain for the way he has treated women the entire movie, but nope. The Shiek ends up taking care of him. Other than that, this movie is filled with a disregard for human life - a scene where the evil cyborg repeatedly runs over the chubby comedic relief and then the cops shoot him hundreds of times before he laughs and runs over their friend's dead body is my favorite part - and the cinematic equivalent of eating ten bags of Takis. Or Fritos. Or Doritos. You know what I'm saying!
