In Dallas, recently separated Edgar Easton (Thomas Lennon) moves back home to live with his parents. He runs a small comic book store and draws his own comics. He reconnects with childhood acquaintance Ashley Summers. He finds an unusual puppet in his late brother's room. It's a part of the Toulon Murders in Postville 30 years earlier and he goes to the convention there with Ashley and friend Markowitz looking to sell the puppet.
The original Puppetmaster has an interesting concept. The puppets are creepy. It has its fun but this is not a franchise that I follow closely. They are still creepy fun although there is a low budget jerry-rigged indie wonderfulness that is missing. Thomas Lennon could be funnier but he's not given the room. Officer Carol Doreski's presentation grinds on and on and almost grinds the movie to a halt. Being in the original does not make one a good actor and that role is too big for the actress. The production level is limited while not having the low budget charms of the original. There are more gore and more boobs in this one. It's caught between camp and horror and can't land on either. Despite the potentially fun cast, the movie itself lacks comedic writing. Despite the creepy puppets, this one lacks the horror scares. This should be so much better.

It's Junior Fuhrer!
Edgar (Thomas Lennon) sells and draws comics in Texas. He is going to attend the 30 year anniversary of the Toulan murders with his dead brother's puppet to auction. There are about 65 puppets there.
I admit I haven't seen all of the dozen or so "Puppet Master" films. They are like the Jason and Freddy movies. You don't have to see them all to know what will happen. Little Nazi puppets kill people, generally some nudity and gore. It that is what you expect, that is what you get. I will also predict the next "Wrong Turn" will be about a family of cannibals, killing and eating people with tons of blood. The drawings during the opening credits will catch you up.
The meets my expectations. Barbara Crampton who plays a police officer was in the 1989 Puppet Master.

This movie is GARBAGE
It takes a LOT for me to say this about a Horror Movie. You're talking to a guy who gave Leprechaun in Space a 7 or 8 rating. This movie OFFENDS me as a fan of the Puppet Master series. You take a great character like Andre Toulon who fought and killed Nazis to BEING one? The Puppets themselves have no personality whatsoever and are pretty much mindless killing machines. This is absolutely nothing like the originals. Plus, there are multiple versions of each Puppet? Not to mention I can take a lot, but when a puppet jumps inside a pregnant woman, rips through her stomach and carries away a fetus, even in HORROR, that's too far. I wasted 13 dollars on this. 3 dollars would have been a waste on this. Fangoria basically took ever Puppet Master fan and pissed on them.
