Libidinous young dudes Ben (likeable Rob Morrow) and Jack (a pre-stardom Johnny Depp in his first lead role) go to a posh Florida resort with the specific intention of scoring with hot babes. Complications ensue when the pair run afoul of jewel thief the Maestro (ably played with considerable campy gusto by Hector Elizondo).
Director George Bowers keeps the slight and silly, but still enjoyable story moving along at a zippy pace, maintains an engaging breezy tone throughout, gets a good deal of laughs from the amusing sense of goofy lowbrow humor (the slapstick foot chase scenes in particular are positively hysterical),and presents a pleasing plethora of foxy ladies with nice bodies in skimpy bikinis or less. Moreover, it's acted with zest by an enthusiastic cast: Emily Longstreth as perky waitress Patti, Karyn O'Bryan as the ravishing Dana, Dody Goodman as doddery, yet feisty old lady mark Mrs. Rawlings, Leslie Easterbrook as the Maestro's va-va-voomish bombshell wife Bobbie Sue, Tony Azito as overzealous hotel detective Reeves, Hilary Shepard as the flaky Shirley, Michael Bowen as the smarmy Scott, Lisa London as ditsy drunk Alice, Andrew "Dice" Clay as swaggering macho stud Curt, and Christopher Wynne as zany punker Mike. Adam Greenberg's slick'n'sunny cinematography provides an attractive bright look. A real hoot.

Wacky 80's horny teen comedy blast
Teen Romp in Florida
Before Johnny Depp went on to major big screen career and befre Rob Morrrow starred in Northern Exposure on the small screen they starrred together as a pair of horny teens at a Florida resort looking to score. Morrow especially as he's trying to lose his virginity.
This is one fast paced comedy as Depp and Morrow get into ione scrape after another. One od the peole pursuing is Hector Elizondo a jewel thief who is after the diamond ring that Dodie Goodman gas. Dodie is grandmother and chaperone of Emily Longstreth ho Depp has his eye on.
Morrow makes friends with one of the young staff Karyn O'Bryan who is fending off the advances of a really obnoxious server Michael Bowen. Both plotlines intersect with the other many times throughout Private Resort.
A personal connection I had to this film was Tony Azito, tall rubber legged actor who stole the film as the hapless house detective He did some amazing comic pratfalls as just about everyone in the cast gets the better of him.
My connection to Tony Azito stems from my working days at the New York State Crime Victims Board when I visited him at his Greenich Village apartment after he had been hit by a car at Christopher and West Streets in Manhattan. Both legs were broken and I did his claim for unreimbursed medical expenses and loss of earnings. He was a good and gracious soul.
So to you Tony Azito this rview is dedicated.
Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow anchor silly 80s sex romp
This is a lesser member of the 80s sex romp genre. It's the second film of the yet unknown Johnny Depp. That's the only reason I checked it out. It's a T&A romp in a Florida resort and hotel. Confident Jack (Johnny Depp) and his more reserved friend Ben (Rob Morrow) have fun and hijinx trying to hook up with all the hot young women. They constantly run into jewel thief 'The Maestro' (Hector Elizondo),the resort manager, and the jerk Curt (Andrew Dice Clay).
Girls, I'll tell you up front that you absolutely see Depp's butt. He struts around naked and so does Morrow. Clay slaps the guys around. There are some slapstick. It's exactly what you expect and none of it is terribly funny but it is somewhat cute. It's all very silly and stupid.
The only thing to raise this above all the other pointless '80s sex romp is the combo of Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow. They are a couple of fun guy buddies. They are a likable charismatic duo. Without them, I couldn't possibly give this a 6/10.
