two pints of urine and a packet of jerky

Oh it was awful, just a boring yarn, like an elongated bear grylls episode but with the emphasis based on drinking pee! hundreds of better stranded movies than this, infact i think this is the most tedious i have ever had the misfortune of coming across. basically, a couple in australia decide to go to ayers rock, get lost, and walk away from their car leaving them in dire straits. it really is that basic dont bother!

Back out

How much can we care? We are supposed to be a species who has empathy in their DNA, so experiencing an ordeal or watching others who have to go through things that are quite enormous and even painful at times ... should stimulate us ... keep us engaged. Of course if you have characters who make it hard for you to care ... that is not a good thing.

We get thrown in, in a relationship that seems dwindling ... spiraling out of control ... and you wonder how much sense it makes to keep going. Not just for the couple, but for you as a viewer. Even the late in the game explanation or rather character "save" does not really absolve her or him of the weird stuff they did before.

It is a shame because especially the last third of the movie really gets into overdrive and is suspensful enough to have you on the edge of your seat. Shame that before that there is a lot that will not entice you one bit ... well shot and played all things considering. Not sure if this is based on a real story - I thought I glimpsed something like that towards the end of the movie ... but I really wasn't that interested to find out if it was just a gimmick or true.

A watchable, but bland movie experience...

Well, the whole thing with 'based on an urban legend' had no influence upon my decision of watching the 2019 drama thriller "Outback". I simply sat down to watch it here in 2021, as I had the opportunity to do so, and because it was a movie that I hadn't already seen.

Sure, I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations to the movie, given its somewhat not-so-overly-interesting synopsis. But still, I opted to give writers Brien Kelly and Mike Green's movie a chance.

And "Outback" was watchable, sure, and yeah it had some nice enough moments. But overall, then it was a subpar movie. I just never could submerge myself into the storyline, as not enough exciting things happened as the movie trotted on for about an hour and a half. So it was a little bit tame to sit through, to be bluntly honest.

"Outback" is a movie with essentially just two performances, sure there were a couple more, but it was primarily Lauren Lofberg (playing Lisa) and Taylor Wiese (playing Wade) that carried the movie, as they were the two main characters and the only characters for the majority of the entire movie. They actually did carry the movie well enough, just a shame that the storyline and script didn't hold enough of proper contents for them to work with.

In terms of "Outback" being an enjoyable movie, then I have to say no. This is a movie that is watchable once, and then you will quickly forget about it, as it was essentially rather bland and mundane. And this is not a movie that I would recommend you rush out to get your hands on.

My rating of "Outback" lands on a generous four out of ten stars, mostly because of the performances of Lauren Lofberg and Taylor Wiese. There are far better marooned survival movies out there.
