A RAJKUMAR RAO Show

When there is Hansal Mehta on Director's Chair and Rajkumar Rao is in lead role, then what more do you want other than watch it. This is fully a Rajkumar Rao Show. Rao completely transformed himself into Omar Saeed Sheikh.

Technical Departments should also be praised as well. It's editing, lightening and of course BGM, there's some scenes where only BGM and Rao's expression does it all.

WATCH THIS FOR EXCEPTIONAL RAJKUMAR.

Rajkumar Rao succeeds but Hansal Mehta fails in this first disappointing project from the duo.

Omerta Review :

Rajkumar Rao succeeds but Hansal Mehta fails in this first disappointing project from the duo. Omerta was awaited for couple of reasons, first was obviously the successful duo of Rajkummar Rao-Hansal Mehta who delivered films like 'Shahid', 'Citylight' and 'Aligarh' and the second reason was the kind of serious theme it was attempting. It feels so miserable to say that, Omerta is the first disappointment from this quality duo and overall motive of the film is hateful for the Indian audience.

Omerta is a recounting of the story of infamous British-born terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh (Rajkummar Rao),who kidnapped and murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002 and contributed in some terrorist attacks as an intelligent agent. First of all, this biopic of an evil soul is despicable and disrespectful for us Indians to watch because it is too disturbing to tolerate such stories when mankind is harmed by terrorist and after doing all these sins they got away from it. I don't understand why Hansal Mehta had to pick up this story when he knew that there is no positive ending and nothing to take home for audience. This wasn't needed at all and this deserves to be hated for the glorification of a terrorist.

Rajkummar Rao as Omar Saeed Sheikh is bearable because he's genuinely a good actor. His recent work hasn't been disappointing and this one adds another decent performance in his filmography. But it wasn't upto his own high level he set through some amazing acts recently. Supporting cast of the film is not at all noticeable but overall okay-okay.

Omerta has a runtime of 96 minutes which makes us believe that it should be a pacy ride but shockingly it isn't. This is not acceptable when the film with short runtime looks slower than expected and the vision of concerning persons definitely deserves to be bashed. However, the structure of this ugly world is better. Dialogues are pretty formal and more than half of them are in English. Cinematography and background music are supportive but not well enough.

Omerta lacks the great writing already but it looks even more dull when the director doesn't even try to make it look attractive. Hansal Mehta surely knows how to craft the stories beautifully but this wasn't one of them. Looking at his earlier works with Rajkummar Rao (Shahid, Citylight and Aligarh),Omerta is on below par level. Overall, Omerta doesn't offer anything good on the basis of content and storytelling but Rajkummar Rao's performance is the (only) saving grace. Watch it for him otherwise skip it without any hesitation.
