Beneath the horror there's a relevant message

A year after a social media influencer livestreams her suicide, several girls tagged in her video meet grisly deaths, one by one. The last survivor desperately tries to piece together what is happening and why, before her turn comes.

This Thai supernatural horror takes a hard swing at cyber-bullying, vanity, narcissistic obsession, the cult of celebrity, and peoples inability to put their ****ing phones down. The message; fame matters more than people. We then see why that's a bad thing - and the ensuing deaths are pretty well done. The problem is that whilst those targeted by the ghost are shallow, self-obsessed airheads, whose lives are ruled by 'likes' and 'follows', the ghost (or who it used to be) comes across as clearly wronged and justifiably upset. I felt more sympathy for her than for her victims - which I don't think was the intention. The inclusion of supposed social media videos makes the order of events a little confusing. And despite a runtime of just 1hr 26min, it drags at times. But the cast do well, and the underlying message is a good one. 6/10.

Boring and mundane...

Right, well first of all the title of movie makes absolutely no sense. What does "Net I Die" mean?

Secondly, the movie was so mundane and monotone that it was sort of a struggle to get through. And it didn't really help much that the storyline was prolonged and dragged out, with very little of any noteworthy interest happening. And for a horror movie, then "Net I Die" was abysmally devoid of anything even remotely scary. Well, maybe it is scary to a Thai person, but for a seasoned horror veteran as myself, this was a mere stroll in the park.

Well, the storyline is what really hindered this movie in being interesting. It just felt like director Weeratham Preedee was making things up as the movie was being shot. Lots of pointlessness going on here, I kid you not.

The acting in the movie was actually good enough, but the performers just struggled at an uphill battle with a lousy script and storyline, and the movie definitely suffered from that aspect.

And for a Thai horror movie with ghosts, then "Net I Die" was not even close to being interesting. There are far better and more scary Thai horror movies readily available.

My rating for "Net I Die" is a mere three out of ten stars. I managed to sit through the entire movie, but I can't claim that I was particularly entertained or enjoying the movie. This is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.
