Naaraaz a 1994 classic!

Mahesh Bhatt's 1994 film 'Naaraaz' is easily one of the most well made films of the decade gone by. An honest and powerful film. I saw this film years ago and I remember liking it a lot. Though the film flopped at the box office, I feel this film deserves a watch for the honesty its been made with. I am not Naaraaz with this old flick, I am indeed happy!

Performances: Mithun Chakraborty is my favorite actor. His performance here is excellent. Pooja Bhatt is very good. Atul Agnihotri excels from start to end. Sonali is good. Gulshan Grover shines as the conniving villain. Others are also good.

'Naaraaz' is a very well made flick, watch it for the honesty its made of. Thumbs up!

Two Movies In One

Naaraaz Directed By Mahesh Bhatt is An Action Drama. Plot is Similar To Ghulami(1985) in The First Half. Second Half is Like Any Other Action Flick Of 90's. In Simple Words Two Movies in One. Script & Screenplay Are Very Mediocre. Direction By Mahesh Bhatt is Very Weak. Editing is Poor. Action & Dialogues Are Fine. Music is Plus.

Deva (Mithun Chakraborty) is a Poor Villager Who Lives With His Father. All Deva Wants is That His Village Gets Clean Water. Deva Befriends Ajay (Atul Agnihotri) A Writer. Ajay Helps Deva. Ajay's Uncle Jagdambar(Bharat Kapoor) Owns The Fresh Water. After Few Mishaps Ajay Kills Jagdamber & Few Others. Cops Are After Him. He Manages To Escape And Lands in Malaysia Which Leads To Another Plot Altogether. He Starts Working For Taoke(Gulshan Grover) & Meets Sonia(Pooja Bhatt).

Acting Wise Mithun is Brilliant When it Comes To Emotional Scenes. Atul & Sonali Bendre Are Just Fine Nothing To Shout About. Bharat Kapoor Does Well in A Negative Character. Pooja Bhatt Has Less Screen Space With Usual Stuff. Gulshan Grover, Rana Jung Bahadur, Mushtaq Khan & Kunal Khemu(Young Ajay) Are Good.

Music is Just Awesome. "Sambhala Hai Maine" By Kumar Sanu is The Most Popular Romantic Track From The Movie. "Kitni Haseen Hai Raat" & "Tumhe Hum Kya Samajhte Hain" By Kumar Sanu Both Are Soft Romantic Track & My Favorites Too. "Tere Bin Main Kuch Bhi Nahi" Rare Duet By Kumar Sanu & Udit Narayan.

Naaraaz...An Angry Love Story

Deva (Mithun Chakraborty) is a hot headed peasant who is forever fighting for the welfare of his fellow villagers, especially for the lack of water, which has been seized by Vishambernaat (Bhaarat Kapoor). His short temper often gets him into a lot of trouble, which is often dealt to great extremes by his beloved friend Ajay (Atul Agnihotri). Ajay has known Deva since childhood, and has comforted his anger when needed. Ajay writes a book about Deva and his village folk, and decided to head back to the village with his girlfriend Sonali (Sonali Bendre) to bring the village justice once and for all. Its only when Deva kills the local MP and Ajay's uncle (for their atrocities committed on the village folk) does Deva begin to run...far into the realms of Malaysia. It is here he meets up with Tauke (Gulshan Grover) who helps him send money back home to his village. Only atrocities are reflected in Taukes actions, does Deva run away with two of Taukes victims, Sonia (Pooja Bhatt) and Khan (Laximikant Berde),much to the venomous anger of Tauke, who instantly seeks revenge. Sonia and Deva become instant attractions, they get married and expect a child. But then the ultimate decision arises...do Deva and his friends give themselves up to the police..or do they continue to dwell further into the darkness of crime???
