A bouquet that doesn't bloom enough

Most of the small batch of 2020 Fall Harvest films did not impress me, of the previous films prior to this only 'Country at Heart' was good. The previous two before that were two of the worst of the 2020 Hallmark films. 'My Best Friend's Bouquet' did sound very cute, and Hallmark can do cute quite well when not too sugary sweet (a danger with their Christmas films). It is also quite relatable to anybody who has been in this situation or similar.

While it is better than 'Follow Me to Daisy Hills' and 'Falling for Look Lodge' as far as the 2020 Fall Harvest films go, 'My Best Friend's Bouquet' still a downhill in quality after being very pleasantly surprised by 'Country at Heart'. It sounded cute on paper, but the execution overall was lacking. There were far worse Hallmark films from 2020, but also better. If asked whether 'My Best Friend's Bouquet' is worth seeing, my answer would be a very small yes but for curiosity's sake and not worthy of repeat viewings.

It does have good things. It looks nice, especially the scenery. The music has pleasant moments here and there.

There are parts that are cute and charming from the supporting cast. Which is solid, especially Jaime M. Callica and Luisa D'Oliviera.

Chaley Rose doesn't work in the female lead role, it just looked like her heart was not in it and she looked bored, her line delivery lacks expression too. Nathan Witte has a bland, underwritten character and while he is more involved than Rose he is on the dull side. Didn't feel any connection let alone any romantic chemistry between them and the relationship doesn't go very far most of the time and then rushes abruptly. While the supporting actors are solid, the characters are flimsy in development and at the end of the day there's not much distinct about them.

Will agree that 'My Best Friend's Bouquet' doesn't fall like a Fall Harvest film and more like it belonged in the Summer Nights or Love Ever After seasonal blocks, there is very little Autumn feel. The story takes ages to get going, the first 25-30 minutes or so is a slog, and when it does get somewhere it is very derivative and tired stuff. If one is expecting originality here, you've come to the wrong place. The dialogue is awkward a vast majority of the time and is cheesy too.

Summarising, mediocre. 4/10.

Loved It!

It's Hallmark, so you know from the start how it's going to go. But I loved the cast! In particular, Chaley Rose and Nathan Witte--as well as ALL the supporting cast. Nice to see fresh characters. Let's see more of these actors. It's hard when you produce so many movies, and have limited criteria, based on family values and human decency and respect for others, to have intriguing plots, mixed with love and mystery. But when you just want to feel good and not get too tense, fearful, or just plain awful, Hallmark is where to go!

Cute movie

It held my attention - unlike the first two 2020 Hallmark fall movies (snoozefests and bad acting - the Daisy Hills and Look Lodge movies). The cast was pretty. The scenery was pretty. The story wasn't original - but had a different twist. Chaley Rose is beautiful - her acting could use some fine tuning - but she'll get there. All-in-all - Enjoyable movie.
