love the idea

Best friends, Chris, Adam, and Barrett, have created their board game Murder Bury Win. Their crowdfunding is going nowhere. Prolific game designer Victor Von Stubbs invites them to an isolated cabin. He offers to buy the game off their hands but they can't acknowledge creating it.

They need to bump up the money. $3k is not big enough as a cinematic lure. It needs to be a deal with the devil. Adam needs to be a wild crazy punk instead of a white preppy guy. I do like the descend into chaos but it needs a little more setup. If Victor's death is more messy, it would explain the need for a cover up. I love this idea but it needs to be developed more carefully.

Not worth it. They didn't do enough right

This is a pretty goofy comedy, but they're light on content and the story is nonsense. I'm surprised and suspicious at the high ratings that appeared almost immediately after release.

Overall they just didn't do enough interesting stuff, and I couldn't suspend my disbelief for how silly some of the story was. The premise is good, and they have a few good scenes, but they wasted tons of time on what felt like filler and they didn't spend enough time on the stuff that should be funny/interesting regarding the premise.

Craig Cackowski and Mikelen Walker were both pretty great on screen, but the others felt pretty mediocre. You want to like the other 2 stars, but their delivery wasn't so good. The writers didn't have a strong grasp of how someone might get paid for board game design, and V. V. Stubbs whole deal was so silly that it was almost impossible for me to get into the story itself. The scale of money to drive the characters felt FAR TO LOW for it to be believable.

They could have had something really solid if they tweaked the story slightly to make it more plausible, spent more time on what the premise implied they would, and did some scenes more like the opening ones.

A Bear Trap

Three game geeks invent a board game called "Murder, Bury, Win." They can not get on-line funding for their project, but they play the one they have. Out of the blue they get a call from someone who will help them. It turns out to be V. V. Stubbs (Craig Cackowski) a god among cult board game creators. Things do not go well at the meeting as the film becomes a dark comedy.

I liked the fact that this was fresh. It wasn't "Dave Made a Maze" fresh, but what is. While I found the film overall enjoyable, I felt there were scenes and the ending that missed the mark.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
