Well this 2010 Hong Kong movie from director and writer Patrick Kong is definitely covering some genres, as it is listed as a romantic comedy drama here on IMDb. So when I sat down to watch the movie I must admit that I was expecting those genres to be present. Turns out that the comedy in the movie was not really there.
That being said, "Marriage With a Liar" (aka "Fun chin see oi") was not actually a bad movie. It was entertaining enough for what it turned out to be, and it definitely is a movie you can watch once. But that is also about it, because the script and storyline cannot support more than a single viewing. It just doesn't have the contents for it.
The storyline was straight forward, but it was a bit too much on the lacking realism aspects of the scale, and that made the movie appear a bit less interesting. I mean, what are the chances of two people about to get married having an affair each, and both the lovers draw a heart in the palm of the to-be-married person? Nah, I wasn't buying that.
However, I will say that the acting in the movie was good, and I was especially impressed with the performance of Charmaine Fong (playing Mon),because she really carried the majority of the movie with her performance, even though she wasn't one of the two leading cast.
Overall, then "Marriage With a Liar" was a bit too generic. And while it was watchable, it was not an impressive movie experience in the Hong Kong cinema. I am rating it a very mediocre five out of ten stars. For me, "Marriage With a Liar" came and went without a lasting impression. In fact, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to now in 2020, when I had the chance to sit down and watch it.

It was just a bit too far out there...
Light-hearted, Flirty, Hong Kong "RomCom"
Reasonably entertaining Chinese "rom com" with a delectably pretty actress or two - depending on your taste. This movie doesn't aspire to much apart from light hearted entertainment and the occasional funny set up; as its leads are about to be married - but have they finished being naughty just yet...?
Anyway, the movie's not bad, quite watchable, especially one of the girls, whom I found to be most particularly watchable (the one who has a crush the male lead). But by no means is this a serious movie. More like bubble gum for the eyes, to borrow a quotation. It's really a reasonably humorous , average movie.
If you speak Cantonese, you might even enjoy this as a "date" movie. Others, may find that the subtitles require some concentration to follow, that is, if you are even up the the task of taking this movie *that* seriously. Hmmm. Anyway, I've little more to say about it, just as you may find upon watching it. In fact, this is about as far from a memorable movie as London is from Hong Kong. But what a deliciously cute, lovely girl... :-) A light-hearted, flirty and non too serious 6/10!
