Apo erota translates as "for love". This is a romantic comedy that doesn't feel like it even though it is funny and romantic. Altogether it is fresh and, deep down, just tragic. Bittersweet ending and it left me wondering ¿Is sanity over love/life that reasonable?. It does't seem to me that being sane is more important than been happy after i watched this movie.
I've seen this "losing of one's mind for love" subject in Greek movies and culture, but this one has a very modern flavor.
The plot is something. Not the usual "I woke up in my mother's body" kind of unrealistic, magical, lecturing situation. But it could have easily been that, and total failure with an average execution. The lead actor helps a lot to avoid this, his performance was outstanding: he carries all the craziness and tragedy of the movie, and he pulls it off.
I don't like to give spoilers, all I can really say this movie gives a bit of that empty feeling that life is not so good. It's one of those that make you reflect and, this time, I don't even know what it really wants me to reflect about or if that was even the point.
pd: excuse my English
Plot summary
Antonis is a firefighter. The story begins two days before his wedding to Natassa, a nurse, when Anna, his ex-girlfriend, visits him out of the blue. The old flame is still going strong. Antonis will not bail out of his wedding with Natassa, even though Anna is obviously very keen to restart the relationship. Things get more complicated when Antonis starts a "double life" in his own home. What will happen when Anna shares the same space with Natassa?
