Too predictable, dialogue and script too naive as if written by college or maybe high schoolers; it's forced, and too simple in its dialogue that it tends to leave the viewer with more questions of who wrote the screenplay.
Plot summary
Based on true events, "Lady of Guadalupe" is a moving religious discovery juxtaposing folklore and the present day. Historically significant recreations are used to illustrate the origin of her prevalent and powerful symbolism of Mexican identity and faith. When a young and ambitious reporter (Guillermo Iván) is assigned an article on faith, he finds himself enmeshed in the legend of Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Skeptical of miracles and the importance of modern-day Christianity, the reporter's investigation takes him from cynic to true believer as his personal limits are tested.

A Film That Would Inspire Devotion To The Blessed Virgin Mary
"Lady of Guadalupe" is a Mexican film that presents a historical narrative of the Blessed Virgin Mary appearing to Juan Diego in 1531 and a modern narrative about a reporter named John, whose faith got tested when something happened to his wife. In addition to that,it also serves as a docudrama as it presents information about Juan Diego becoming a saint in 2002 and the importance of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the country of Mexico and its citizens.
The movie is definitely has its misgivings like having a predictable story in the modern narrative wherein the reporter was shown to have little faith and the viewer would evidently know what the character transformation would take place considering the theme of the film. But nevertheless, it was able to negate that as it presents to the viewer the importance of having a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Added to that, we also get to see how humble people like Juan Diego would delight God especially when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to her. Finally, the film also presents the Church where the cloth containing the image of the Virgin Mary provided to Juan Diego by the Blessed Virgin still holds today after almost 500 years when garments are not supposed to last more than 10 years and where millions of Catholics go visit annually.
No question that the viewer would attain a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as well as her importance in our faith being the primary intercessor to God who would strengthen our prayers to the Lord by watching this film.
Slow, poorly executed, Simplistic script.
A torture to watch. No development of characters. Sappy and sentimental.
