Poor. Really poor.

Single mother waitress Halle Berry finally takes her son to the park after a series of improbably awful customers. While she is taking a horrible call from her lawyer about her ex challenging for custody, her son is kidnapped. She sees him being put into a highly distinctive-looking car and gives chase. None of the initial set-up has any relevance to what follows.

My daughter and I are actually watching this as I type. We are stunned at how utterly awful it is, unbelievable from start to finish. When Berry is taking the lawyer's call in the park, she has a call - Marco! - and answerback - Polo! - system with her son, but she has her back to him! Would you simply walk away and never look at your child? Especially after having spent lengthy periods dangerously turning round and looking at him in the back seat while you are driving?

Thankfully Ms Berry spends a lot of the film sitting alone in the car talking to herself telling us what's going on, otherwise we'd never know that she's chasing a car with her son in it (sarcasm mode: off).

This film is in focus, the camera is usually steady, and the sound is well recorded. That's about it as far as good points are concerned. Ms Berry does the best she can with a script/story which is, frankly, one of the worst I have ever encountered for a film of this nature.

Make no mistake, this film is very, very bad.

SEVEN production companies thought this was a good script?

Well... I will first give credit where credit is due. I will admit that despite the many flaws to be found, I was never bored once during my viewing experience. And I will also admit that Halle Berry gives it her all, and certainly deserves an "A" for her great effort. Unfortunately, Berry is often required to spout dialogue (when no one else is around) that feels quite contrived and makes you think that the filmmakers thought the audience would be too stupid to figure out what her character was thinking and feeling if she was silent. A bigger problem is that there many moments where her character does some really stupid things that just extend the situation instead of finishing things much sooner had her character had some basic smartness. For that matter, the bad guys (and also some other characters) do their part to act stupid enough so that they stretch out the narrative as well. Had the movie's characters been of reasonable intelligence, we might possibly have had something here. But as it is, the movie is not that much better than silently watching a blank wall for 95 minutes.

It's now or never! A mother's fight back!

Truly shocking for people blindly following the words of critics. This is really a good film. I totally enjoyed it. Well, it was not like I never saw such film. In a century of motion picture history, hundreds of similar films were made. This is just another one, but there's nothing wrong with it. People wrongly judged it. The pace of the film was rocket speed. So basically, there's no time for one to keep looking for flaws. If they do, then they're not enjoying the show. They missed out everything, hence end up bashing it. Just like the clowns, aka film critics.

It was another kidnap film that Halle Barry in it, that's similar to her previous film 'The Call'. It did not take long to get into the action. A hardworking mother, going through divorce, fighting for her son's custody. While engaging in a phone call, she loses her son in an amusement park. The alert mother quickly jumps into pursuing when he was seen forcefully taken in a stranger's car. The remaining events take place on the road, with car chases, with a twist before the conclusion.

Nicely written screenplay and well performed actors, particularly Halle Berry. I have never seen she had played such an energetic role in the recent time. Whatever the storyline is, it's kind of an inspiring film. How a mother fought for her son. Totally a mother instinct. You can't simply expect like the film 'Taken'. It might not be realistic, but cinematically honest. The same thing happens in the animal world too. Sad that the film released after so many delays. Moreover, how people responded to it. Believe me, it is a nice film and I definitely suggest it to all.
