It's awesome to see big budget classics like this but YOU CANT HEAR THE SINGERS AT ALL! The instruments and crowd noise does more than dull the performances, it OBLITERATES them. Go listen to Ian Gillian's gut wrenching gethesimine and compare to the soulless John legend who I don't think could scream in pain if he was on fire. Someone should have explained to him that songs like the temple, he was ENRAGED and SADDENED. It's terrible to say but some of the background lepers would have been a better jesus. That being said, the rest of the cast was OUTSTANDING and really brought life and never before expected talent to a story for a whole new generation to love. Oh, and way way too many commercials!

John Legend can sing but he does not know how to emote to convince us that he means what he's saying. Darn shame. The theater people who have lead roles (especially Judas and Caiaphas) are excellent and so are the musicians. The staging is awkward and not very creative.

My biggest gripe for the producers is the fact that they did not credit the wonderful ensemble on IMDb. They deserve their credits!

I've only seen this once, many years ago. The overall production value was wonderful. It's a good show. I thought John Legend's range was incredible, one of the most creative singers on the planet. Sarah Bereilles had the Mary Magdalene role on ice. And the guy who played Judas, Brandon Victor Dixon stole the show. That said, I know that everyone is complaining about the commercials. I have to as well. There were times when I forgot what had just happened during these breaks. It pretty much ruined it for me. How can a person get involved in something like this when every five minutes you break for KFC. I also had issue with some of the sound, but I can forgive that because all the glitches can't be cured in a live performance.
