Liar, liar

Lucas and Thomas are two friends that work as inspectors in the Paris bus system. They have boring jobs, but at night, they perform in little known clubs hoping that success will be not too far in their future. When Thomas is reported dead in a motorcycle accident, Lucas discovers he has left a blue book in which there are some songs he wrote. Lucas works on them, making them his own. He becomes an instant hit, an overnight singing sensation that goes under the name of Luka.

Lucas, who knew Marion during the time of being unknown, finds her one day by chance, while he was still working on the buses. He also inherits the roommate from hell in the person of Francis, an out of work actor that never amounted to anything. Even after his instant success, Lucas does not know how to get rid of this man that loves to parade himself naked from the waist down all the time, while at home.

Lucas nightmare begins when he meets Thomas at the Gare Du Nord train station, where he has taken Marion who is leaving for London. It appears Thomas decided to go to India, where he has been living for a while and he has come to Paris for a few days. Lucas realizes right away that his friend will soon find out the deception and will no doubt want the money from royalties due to composers. Lucas tries to get Thomas distracted, inventing all kinds of silly things. Unknown to Lucas, Thomas figures out the ruse, and to his friend's amazement he informs him the songs were not his!

A somewhat funny French comedy we caught on a French cable channel not long ago. Directed by Eric Lavaine, the film is amusing and good for a few laughs. The young cast include Benabar, who also contributed to the screenplay with the director and Hector Cabello Reyes. Franc Dubosc is the obnoxious Francis, who provides some funny moments. Jocelyn Quivrin is seen as Thomas and Anne Marivin plays Marion.
