Silly but fun ...

Lots is going on in this low budget shocker. A family move into a farmhouse during a local killing spree. The three daughters are precocious, sardonic and stunning, mum Bernice (Amanda Wyss) copes with it all, and dad Tom (Jay Mohr) doesn't have any lenses in his spectacles. Unwisely, you might think, the daughters are left along in the house.

As the story rolls along, it becomes apparent that we're not invited to take things entirely seriously. This never lapses into comedy, but many moments are distinctly tongue in cheek. All the double-entendres about a girl's 'first time', for example, are given extra meaning within the context of various revelations, which are a long time coming.

What we get is just under 80 minutes that are entertaining enough, but probably don't warrant a second viewing. My score is 6 out of 10.

could have been good

The Delaney family moves into a farmhouse with an orchard which is the site of a recent murder. The parents leave for an unspecified trip leaving their adult daughter Juliet (Katrina Bowden) in charge of the two younger teenage daughters. The girls are harassed by three creepy thugs before the arrival of a creepy Sheriff.

It's a B-horror which could have been good. The family needs to play the start much more innocently. There is far too many foreshadowing. When the turn happens, non of it is surprising. That's its one big shot and the movie missed it. There is also an issue about the monster. It's not the look but that could better. It should somehow connect it with the family so it should eliminate the start. It needs better writing. This script is not good but it could have been.

Home Alone

A family moves into a house once owned by a serial killer. From the opening scene, we can only imagine werewolves live nearby. Mom and Dad must leave the three teen girls alone with local boy hooligans about. The boys make their way into the house and cause issues for the girls. Seems the local sheriff takes the side of the boys as they are his sons.

The production was a bit boring until the film got to the twist. It could have used a shower scene or something. Special effects were primitive. The twist made the film worth watching. I would like to see a part two now they have gotten past the boredom.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
