Pretty good...

I had no idea who the actors were until I saw the credits and the message of her death. I remember the crash being in the news, now I feel even worse than when I was sad at the time, thinking of a whole family wiped out.

This movie is relevant today, the world is full of fear, frustration, a sense of hopelessness with climate, lack of jobs....

There will be critics, who will not rate it as good, I think it is good, makes one think, makes one want to go out there and help people, alleviate their fears, give them hope...

You don't know me

Harmony/Absolution is a different take on a teen romance which involves spiritualism of its own making. Harmony (Jessica Falkholt) has the ability to absorb other people's fears but at a price. It pains her. She manages to recover by taking a shower. She meets a street magician and rich guy, Mason Miller (Jerome Meyer). They have a special bonding.

And the main conflict involves some street thugs.

I can understand the hate for a film that spins its wheels and some BS theory about love and fear having to be in some sort of cosmic balance. I was drawn in by the characters, although the plotline needed polish.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Gains some respect for being original and yet it never quite felt like the film it could have been

Harmony is born with the special ability of being able to absorb the fear of others; however absorbing too much fear can be fatal. When Harmony meets Mason (whom is the son of a woman she saved) the pair instantly form a powerful bond moreso when they learn more about each other. But what exactly is this bond that the pair share and will it come at any personal cost?

Whilst the concept behind this film is original it never seems to make the most of it and is seldom particularly interesting or exciting. The idea of an angel of sorts lurking in the shadows and removing people's fears is admittedly nice to see, but it doesn't seem to amount to much and starts to feel a bit gimmicky.

We don't learn a great deal about Harmony's special powers (aside from the fact that she's an anomaly and is seeming just born with this ability). That to me seems a bit lazy and it would have been nice to learn more about her special ability.

There is a sub-plot focusing on a small gang who bully one of their peers (for most of the film they feel superfluous and unnecessary),but by the film's end it seems that one of them has served a purpose - I still think they were nothing more than a plot device and added nothing of real note to the film.

There's a very sad irony to this film in that one of the characters family were killed in a car accident when the same thing happened in real-life to Jessica Falkholt and her family (this being Jessica's film debut and being released after her death). Given this was her first and only film release I really wished that I had liked it more, but I have to be honest and say that I thought that it was average at best.

RIP Jessica & family.
