Various creatures live in a beautiful coral reef community. Parrot fish Alex is a janitor. Oil gets stuck on a fish and Alex helps her with a bottle of dispersant. It's his last bottle and he fears more is coming. The king and his minions dismiss him. Meanwhile, humans are drilling for oil which is leaking into the environment.
I like the environmental subject matter. The rest is either inferior or simply bad. The animation is far less than most theatrical releases. It's a TV animated show at best. I don't know how a parrot fish gets a bottle of dispersant which looks like a bottle of motor oil. I don't see how a hot vent would solve the oil problem or not harm the fish. I don't know how Alex figures it all out. While I like the idea of an environmental story, this is a lot of I don't know. It's a bad idea to show the humans. If this wants to be based on the understanding of a fish, it should not have humans showing their side of the story. This is a poorly written story and animated poorly.
Plot summary
All his life, plucky parrotfish Alex has dreamed of being a superhero. He gets his chance when a mysterious flood of black goop erupts near his coral reef. As Alex and his pals-a seahorse, an eel, and a blowfish-swim off to confront the menace and save their home, they face a sunken ship with hidden treasure, an abandoned airplane, angry sharks, and an undersea volcano. This thrilling, funny family tale stars Mark Hamill (Star Wars),iJustine ("The Annoying Orange") and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).

poor fish animated movie
It's no 'Finding Nemo'.
This may keep your young children entertained for just over an hour as it's bright and colourful but I found it impossible to watch without comparing it to Nemo. May sound like an unfair comparison but pixar have set the standards for this style of animation.
Great Children's Story
Fantastic film - great voice actors and animation.
